How Often Do You Party?

4. I'm over 30 so I don't party

5. Once a week but I only drink light beer

6. 2 days a week but if I'm on vacation then it's every night

7. Once a month....maybe......if I'm lucky

8. I don't party. Never have. Never will.

I'd say #2 when I was much younger - now partying is pretty much maintaining health, and a few beers once in a while.

When people ask "do you like to party?" what does that mean? Do you like to drink? Do you like to do drugs? Aren't there other ways to party and enjoy yourself and have fun?

Just once, I'd like someone to come up to me and say "Hey, do you like to party? Check it out. I got a piñata yo! Hit that **** dawg! Hit that ****!

P.S. The answer is anywhere between a handful of times a year to everyday depending on how you define party.

None of these options fit me. "Party"--I don't abuse substances and never have (I can count the number of times I've gotten drunk on two hands). I drink maybe 1-2 beers a month. But I still love going to see live music--and being able to remember how great the show was afterwards.

I'm with this guy. I mean I go to parties, sometimes until 4, but I'm like "hey this party is lame lets leave" so technically I'm trying to party but really I'm not. It's a very subjective question, which bothers me, kinda. Honestly I just left a party to be where I'm at now, where the real party is but its not really a party. Can you dig it? This is starting to mess with ma head.

Since you asked:


I started as a weekend warrior my senior year of high school and gradually bumped up the frequency to 3 or 4 times a week as well as the intensity during four years of college. After I left school, I managed to work blue collar jobs about 50-60 hours per week while pretty much partying 5 or 6 nights a week.

Partying was centered around always being in at least 2 gigging bands and enjoying the entire night life atmosphere surrounding the music scene.

Sex, booze and rock and roll.

Then, I suddenly decided to get married and within one year we had a child and I became the model of responsibility and sobriety. Seriously.

We divorced when our daughter was a teenager and she moved out with my ex-wife so I went back to the routine of full time work during the day and full time partying at night.

This plan worked pretty well until I found out that burning the candle at both ends for years at a time carries with it the increased risk of sudden death. After this past summer's close encounter with The Grim Reaper, I decided that my party days were over forever.

I suppose it's a good thing. I've gone back to some reasonable amounts of regular exercise and a proper diet, and I've actually started saving money instead of living from paycheck to paycheck. Partying every night is EXPENSIVE.
