How old were you on your first gig?

I was 15 for my first live show playing bass. It was with my high school punk band and consisted of some laughably bad originals(music-wise it wasn't bad, but the lyrics... oh man). We played an out-door party where i think myself, the guitarist and the vox were all going through moniters.

Whatever though... I had a sweet mo hawk.

age 14

age 20.

i really wish i got in a band in high school. i was good enough for sure, but i was quite self-conscious, and a little shy. after a long break, i started up again at 25. now that im not in a band anymore, i really miss the stage. i just need to find some like-minded folks around here.

I was 13. Well it wasnt even really a gig. Godsmack played my uncle's birthday party (he has a bike shop and the band is from our neighborhood). So they played a set and after I was telling Robbie Merrel I was into bass. So he asked Sully to step in on drums and I jammed with him and Tony on "Rockin in the Free World" and "Back in Black". That's when I got the itch.

Guitar, 19. Bass, 21. Only two gigs I played until coming July 4, 25 years later. Now if you want to count my elementary school band where parents were the only audience, I was 10 and played the baritone, a bigass (well, it seemed that way to me at 10) valved brass instrument somewhere between a tuba and a French horn. Hey, I learned to play the Hawaii-Five O theme on it. On my own. Must have annoyed my old neighbors with me blasting away on that thing, but then they invited us over to watch Lawrence Welk to get even with me.

14, it was in my school in a battle of the bands kind of thing haha my and my band were the only ones that played metal, I was already the guy who dressed with Pantera t-shirts, by the way we played so bad, I barely could hold the bass!

First Gig at 48 - 23 May 2009 - "proof of concept" gig at local pub. Surf's Up!
First Paid Gig - last wknd; 1 hr set; 250 GBP ($415) for the 5 of us!

So now my wife see's that my "mid-Life crisis/hobby" actually pays! :D Which allowed my "GAS" to take form in the shape of a MB LM2 and/and the MB 104HF Cab! :bassist:

My first gig was when I was 13, and I'm now 44. I had a few years off, but overall I have and still do 2-5 gigs per week. So if I average that to 3 gigs per week thats 156 gigs per year and if I take that over the time that I've been playing that totals about 4,800 gigs. Believe it or not I still have fun with it. Just thought of something. Maybe that's why I've been divorced twice! :D
