As if by magic... AC Guitars Introduces the Micro Krell "Very Short Scale" Bass Guitar

Although that is still nearly 2 inches longer than a Gibson SG 6-string guitar's scale. Shorter than a cello though (28").

It's actually pretty common for a normal short scale bass to fit in a guitar case. My Danelectro Longhorn; my Epiphone EA-260; and my Warmoth Mini-Precision Bass are all living quite snugly in guitar cases. As long as there's 30-30.5" between the nut and bridge saddles, it's all good. And yes, if the scale length is less than 30" (and 28" seems pretty standard in that case), "Sub short scale" is the usual term...

I once had an SG copy bass made by Amena. It was the same size as an SG 6-string guitar, so it was shorter than a short scale bass. The dimensions are the same as the 6-stringer. What is the name for a bass of this size?

A Baritone or TicTack in days of old. Think of the solo in The Wichita Lineman by Glen Campbell. Somewhat common in the 60’s.
