How to avoid G.A.S?

Omg, I have the worst G.A.S, lol. How do I avoid it? I really love all the gear I am playing through. I just had bought a new bass last year (Mex Fender PJ bass-4 string) and one gifted to me this past summer (5 string American P-Bass). My amp head is only about 2 years old and my speaker cabs aren't that bad either. Although my 4x10 is alittle heavy. Money isn't an issue, so that's part of the problem. I just can't help it. I need help! lmao. I go on here and guitar center, and craigslist everyday. hahahaha, any advise to avoid getting it? I don't want to purchase anything new for this entire year if possible just because I feel like it is a vicious cycle. Is there like GAS Anonymous group? Any advise would be greatly appreciated

You're on the wrong site! We buy a bunch. We sell a couple (maybe). We occasionally trade. But we do not lend ourselves to standing pat.
It’s a brand new year. If you have all this time to check out basses for sale on various sites, you have time to practice things you never before thought of playing. Buying gear will not make you a better musician. Just trying to help. That said, buy more gear.

Buy the best and buy it once. If money isn't an issue this should be easy. :)

Yes, buying the thing you really want first is much less expensive than buying one that's cheap, but kinda like what you want, then getting a better one when you can afford that, then another, and another, and eventually, what you really wanted in the first place.

The real trick is....figuring out what you want in the first place. If I had known that when it comes to pedals (which I typically can't try before I buy), I'd have the ones I want, and an empty shelf to put other stuff one, instead of "kinda good" pedals. I'd also have spent a lot less money shipping and returning the "not at all what I wanted" pedals.

That's exactly what happened with my bass cabinet and bass head. I needed one in a hurry and bought something (I had an emergency paid gig and my amp/head, at the time, was highly questionable, and would crap out sometimes). It was used and cheaper but I ended liking the sound of it. I think it is more than enough for every gig I play though. I run a sansamp pedal so whichever I use (a Genz Benz 12 inch cabinet, its like 35 lbs. with the Fender rumble head for smaller gigs like at casino's, and bars etc.. and then I bring out a 4x10 4 ohm cabinet (an older cabinet, which weighs alot) for larger gigs like when we play the medium sized venues. Either way most shows I have been DI'd by the venues sound man, so I am really using it for a monitor and the FOH is taking my sound and putting it through the subs and mains. It is rare that I've had to really push the head and cabinet. But I made the mistake of using a different amp head and cabinet at the studio and I have been itching ever since lol.
