How to dress

I have to close crop all of our live band pics for our promos/Facebook pics because my BL/guitar player loves wearing shorts and walking shoes/sandals. Here's us uncropped (and a bit grainy).

Yeah. He doesn't say "Midnight Rodeo" so much as "Suburban BBQ." Maybe just rename the band and go hard in that direction?

This is a very painful topic for me because last year I unknowingly committed a mortal sin with respect to proper dressing for a gig. I wore cargo shorts for a gig at the legendary Bitter End. Thankfully I played there again about a month ago and wore acceptable full length jeans.View attachment 826434

The cargo pants charges leveled against you are unfortunately compounded by the fact you were wearing brown loafers at the time you committed the offense... An extremely serious charge,
I'm afraid. Luckily, TB's resident lawyer @buldog5151bass has managed to negotiate a plea on your behalf. He even got you a spot on the cover band at the reeducation camp.

Count your blessings, and remember, black chinos hence forth.

You could put your hair in pigtails and wear a sun dress. I recall grunge-era bands doing that.

Welcome news for the TBers who suggested Chuck Taylors.
I've heard they now make them with arch supports.
You know, for middle aged Bass players who are going to have a 9 lb Bass slung over their shoulder for 3 hours...
I haven't .wore em in over 40 years and I'm wearing a black pair with black toes....thwys my favorite footwear now for everywhere...especially a gig!!!!

I love how Chucks look but they offer no support for my lousy ankles, and the rubber toe always ends up giving me toe fungus, which is not quite the chick magnet, particularly when
you are already old and crusty.

The biggest bugaboo around here is shorts, particularly cargo shorts.
Baseball hats are widely disputed, with good argument being made that they are often a reasonable choice for players with male pattern baldness.

I would aim for keeping it as simple as possible, you don't want to look like you are trying too hard. Go shopping with a woman in her twenties (or engage
a clerk) and buy jeans that are NOT dad cut. Add a black shoe and black long sleeve or t-shirt and leave it at that.

Pffft. I play in a roots reggae band that does summer gigs on the beach. Shorts are a no brainer. Hell, half the time I look like I'm ready for a swim...which I usually do between sets. I don't get what the issue is. If it's hot, I'm wearing shorts.

With legs like that, I threw him on the mercy of the females in the audience.

By the way, I think Chumlee needs a Devo hat.

Depends on the situation. Outdoor summer gigs, I'll often wear khaki chino shorts, a light colored shirt, and sandals.

Evening/indoors, I usually go jeans, boots with a matching belt, button down shirt, and a jacket (several depending on whether I went brown or black with the belt/boots). Also, a lighter or darker palette depending on the time of year.
