T-shirt, bootcut jeans, boots.
I don't understand how players wear jackets and hats. I get really hot in just a t-shirt.

Thanks to all. I read every response and they were mostly helpful and utterly TB-like!
These are some great ideas for someone as fashion challenged and it was easier when I was younger.
I am going to have to respectfully dismiss a few of the ideas. Speedos, capes, naked are not a good look for me.
This whole questioning came out of a remark my new drummer made about a band photo that he said made us look like a "country band". I think my look contributed to that comment so I went all passive/aggressive on him and purposefully wore the outfit the first gig we had.
The suggestions people have offered are going to be used. I am going to start looking and put something together that will give me a little different look from the other members but still be appropriate for the gig and the band genre.
Here are a couple pictures of the only 2 looks I have had so far. The one where I am in a red shirt was/is the my main look. The ballcap look was my attempt at looking more "blended in". View attachment 826418
Hello,
Hope you're finding some fun ideas on this thread.
Do you mind if I point out something about these pictures that speaks to your question?
Only one guy in these pictures has his shirt tucked in. Which one?
That's a generational clue right there.
Five years ago, look for young thin guys allowed for you to tuck in your tshirt right behind your belt buckle only, leaving the rest of the tails out. But that's almost "out" now.
For 40-60, or more than 10lbs over, if anyone sees your beltbuckle it better say "Harley Davidson".
Of course, for country, the dress code is different. Belt buckles are cool, bigger the better, but for rock that stuff gets you laughed at.
Ball cap and cowboy hat don't say rock. You might try a biker bandana or a fedora. Those are more rock.
Does that help?
Hope it goes well. But please untuck that shirt.
Lol! Yeah, your observations are spot-on and totally true! My wife is laughing with me too! Definitely helps! I appreciate your and all the suggestions!
I am working on finding a couple new looks based on the suggestions. I have a month to my next gig so time to get something together! I will share my idea once I have it figured out.
Shirts untucked, fedora in!

Or just go with Phil Lesh's look......... definitely didn't affect his bass playin!no shorts unless they are bob weir shorts (short cutoff jean shorts) and definitely no cargo shorts. just...dont.
For someone that's closer to 60 than 50, this is a pretty safe look for me.
