How to Modify the Marshall ED-1 Compressor for bass

Has anyone here tried this mod? It's described as 'simple'... what does that mean for someone who has never modded a pedal, someone who owns a soldering iron but has never used it... do you reckon that person should give it a try or am I going to ruin my pedal?!

Very late to the party here - I'm working on a Community Musical and had a need for a compressor on the cheap. This one had been kicking around in my guitar bag barely used, so I took the dive to mod it for bass.

The process is "simple" in the sense that there is some basic soldering knowledge required. I'm fortunate that I have basic soldering knowledge, a Link Removed with a fine tip and controllable temps, and a solder sucker.

I'm a long way from an expert though, so I will say I approached it with some nerves - the two resistors that need changing sit quite close to some other solder joints on the pcb (on my example at least) so I needed to be careful there. Asides from that, it was relatively trivial.

I would probably recommend that you familiarise yourself with the desoldering/soldering process on an old practice pcb so you can get a feel for the way solder will flow into the pin holes when you do it right. Very satisfying :D
