How to you load an 810 alone?

That metal skid plate will tear the living poopie out of my oak steps and the wheels aren't large enough to roll over them. That's the purpose of the appliance dolly with stair climbers.
Why build 4x an8x cabs at all? It's a throwback to 60ya when you couldn't get drivers with decent power handling or excursion so you used multiple. Not the case these days. That's why they're not made much any more.
Nope. Nope. Nope. I can’t imagine owning an 810. I donated my SWR 410 to a church. My Aguilar SL112s weigh 25lb each. With my bass gig bag on my back, I can load-in in one trip. I’m fine with that.
I'm talking about slide rails, which are different to kick plates. I'm not sure where skid plates fall, but it sounds like you might not have slide rails.
This is what the back of my cab looks like. The wheels pass over the curb/step, and then lower the cab onto the slide rails, completely bypassing the cabinet wood and the kick plate.

The ampegs are set up a bit different, and yes. Those rails will dig into wood steps. poopie, my dog's tow nails do enough damage.
You know what I REALLY want? I want a cab that's as tall as a 8x10 or 8x12. But it's just a 3x10 or 4x10 up top, and the rest is hollow with an open back and some padding/velcro so I can store my bass in it, and maybe even my amp. Throw all my cables and stuff in there too.
Imagine, just wheeling an 810 into the venue, opening the back, and unpacking everything.
Almost exactly like that, but with at least a few live real speakers at the top. My impression is that those are all-fake.

I don't understand the affection for an 8x10 and all the rationalization that it's not hard to move at all.
but that's just me. (p.s. love my 12"s)
Space is a pretty big commodity, figure you would Take up One corner of a trailer vrs almost a row

I have to be honest here, it sounds more like you're complaining about your oak steps than the speaker cabinet
. My dolly will scratch up steps too. How about neoprene and cardboard cushion between the cab and stairs? You can install plastic skid rails on the back of the cab also, those will still wear the stairs a little though Im sure.
