I used to routinely move an Acoustic 370 and two 18” 301 cabinets along with two Altec A7 PA cabinets.
One night after loading up for a gig, the singer called and said they canceled the gig; unload the truck and we will have band practice instead.
I put the truck in gear and never went back.

Nope, the venue is at the top of the stairs. But at least that means the post gig load out is downhill!

For the steps. If you are trying to drag that thing up and down steps without a dolly with large wheels or stair gliders you end up tearing up the cabinet and the steps.

I gigged with an ampeg 810 for like 15 years. Never went up or down steps with it by myself. Always had at least two of us to handle stairs.

I gigged with a Peavey 2x15 with Black Widows a few short years ago. I got it up from the basement and back down after the gig without problems. I have quite a few heavy bass cabinets PV 1810’s and such) that I used to carry up and down the. Stairs by myself.

Not only could I NOT do that now, I can’t even remember how I did it.

Moving an Ampeg 810 is a breeze compared moving my Hammond B3 and Leslie 122. But, I have organ dollies that help me manage most obstacles by myself as long as there aren’t more than three steps.

I gigged a Mesa 810 for years and they're heavier than an Ampeg; 173 lbs!
I've always been a pick-up man. I'll always have one.

When it came to gigs with stairs, the answer is simple....I avoided taking my big rig to any venues with stairs, I would simply use a smaller or modular rig. C'mon I dont know anyone that just owns one amp! Stairs are a rare sight anymore, those venues have been remodeled by now or simply out of business.
