My originals were deep, filled with metaphoric stories lyrically and musically it was a touch complicated almost theatrical mixed with simple, but also hook heavy when it came to the Chorus

I play with a very light touch, mostly use modern, active 5's, generally, i favor a clean, modern tone.. however when i play my Fullerton 62 P bass, my inner jamerson/babbitt seems to emerge... it varies depending on the music I suppose

I play in a classic rock band with a horn section, so I cover new songs a lot, and work on keeping my chops up so I can play a few "difficult riffs" with ease. Our trumpet player said this at our last rehearsal: "You're smooth man". I find a tone (usually pretty clean with a little clang) that fits in the mix of our band, and stick with it.

I like messing around with solo pieces that involve tapping and slapping. But again its covering.

For me the joy of music is a sound you get when your relaxed. Relaxed body, wrists, and relaxing even more when it gets quick. I want it to sound clean and feel effortless.
