Actually - my approach to bass is an absolute amalgamation of the genre's I listen to the most:
Bluegrass, Jambands, Grateful Dead, Classic Rock, Dawg Music and Americana.

I vary from root-5 bluegrass boom-chik to exploratory Phil Lesh style counterpoint, to in the pocket John Kahn/Kenny Gradney style grooves.....

Same as my guitar playing...busy. If one note is good, play 2 I always say
I really like ghost notes. I likely overuse that! And walking down to a target note instead of up.

My originals were deep, filled with metaphoric stories lyrically and musically it was a touch complicated almost theatrical mixed with simple, but also hook heavy when it came to the Chorus

Seriously, I don't know. I play for the song. I listen to all the parts and put stuff where I think it should go. Simple, melodic movements, a tight pocket, and a willingness to learn and grow.

I would describe my style as pragmatic and in the pocket. Sometimes it is slow, thick and heavy finger style, sometimes it is fast and aggressive pick playing. Either way, I am a dude who tries to serve the song and the band every time.
