I built 2 of them!

Really, just pieced them together.

These are my custom Fender Jazz Basses using as many genuine Fender parts as possible right down to using screws sold in Fender packaging!

The bodies are the American Professional because I like string thru bridges and the necks are the American 60's Jazz with bone nut and ebony fingerboard on the black Bass and original rosewood on the 1961 style Jazz Bass and both have MOP inlays.

Pickups on the black Bass are the '74 Jazz Bass model and the custom shop '62 pickups on the other. Both Basses have controls wired for series /parallel with the Fender S-1 switching pot on the black Bass and a unique custom built push /pull concentric knob on the other.

I've been finishing details on a design for a while now and I really want to find the time and space to start building it.

It's a 4 string, 34" frettless, bolt on neck with unlined guayacan fretboard (with side markers), heavily chambered body kinda based on a jazzmaster, noise cancelling 51 pbass pickup, passive VT, custom made 18 mm aluminum bridge, GHS flats, Gotoh tuners, gold or black sparkle finish.

This is similar to the 'if you had a signature bass' trend a few months ago, but I'm still in!

Mine would be my take/mods on a G&L M-2000 platform (which I own and love):
Undersized J-style body (similar to Lull or Sadowsky) - Alder with quilt maple top, no pickguard
M-2000 series pickups and 3-band EQ
K-wiring option to use the pickups in single coil mode (currently only available on the L-series)
Volume/Blend control under the pickups (instead of waaay back like they are on the M) and 3 EQ knobs below them (similar to my Dyna-Bass layout)
Quarter-sawn maple neck, 21 frets, 12" radius, maple board, light tint satin finish, 1.5" nut
I'd love a dark transparent purple finish on the body...

I would LOVE a multiscale bass vi (32-30, probably) with string spacing closer to a Shergold Marathon/Hooky 6, but with a body that holds itself up better.

If it were 13mm string spacing I'd be all over it - trust me, I've thought deeply about it!!

It would be based on an Ibanez SRF700 but with the following changes:
No neck pickup
No piezo pickup
The bridge pickup would be a Bartolini Mk 4 (instead of the stock Mk 1)
Bartolini preamp with 3-band eq
Unlined fretless ebony fingerboard (instead of the stock panga panga)
A ramp from the bridge pickup to the fretboard (or have the ebony fretboard go all the way to the bridge pickup)
All black hardware

(So kind of like a Willis but different from a Willis)

So far the only modification I've done on my SRF700 towards this is the upgraded bridge pickup.

Bookend, flamed maple top with a royal purple burst. Black back is fine, but the royal purple going all the way around would be nice.

Nordstrum Pick-up with a true "cancel" switch.
linear pots.
Cable slides into the top of the body (like an Ibanez/SDGR)
it MUST have an ABS case.
