Well, I was interested by the oiling theory but now Im pretty sure I wont do it since it can damage the bass (getting my first db tomorrow 
). Although, cleaning the ebony fingerboard with lemon oil is still the right thing to do... I actually have a G&L bass with an ebony fretboard and damn it looks much healthier after the treatment
