It's well known that Norm is one of the nicest bassists. Maybe he was trying to make Bobby feel better?

Honestly, no. But I've found other videos where Bobby Kimball sounded similar.

Norm is what throws me off, as while he has incredible chops, I feel he typically uses them... responsibly.

Oh my... I try not to comment on bass players playing but was Bobby supposed to sing another verse or something and Norm had to fill in on bass last minute to fill the song up..... because I’m not sure that solo was much better which is surprising because that dude seems pretty solid. Maybe it sounds better live and we just aren’t hearing it right... I hope...
