I can't decide what to play tonight!

I always play my Ric, I mean always. I just set my P-bass up though and it's playing great.

The catch is this will be my first gig with my vintage SVT blueline! I hate to change all the variables.

Just a bored rant. Should I play Ric or P?

Both. Nothing wrong with having a spare bass on stage, even if it's for only one set. And, if it's there anyway, nothing wrong with swapping between songs.

Start with the Ric. Once you switch to the P, you won't want to switch back.

Then it's simple. You play this gig with the Ric (not to change too many variables) and the Next one with the P. Should give you a great feel for the SVT can do with each bass. And if you notice that each bass seems to do better on certain originals, then the third time bring them both and try to put them on the songs where they work best and see if it does enough to keep bothering with.

Of course having your music the best it can be isn't dorky, but fumbling around switching basses is, but there are solutions for the last problem.

Vote for the Ric. Ric + Ampeg is just so sexy to me. Even more so than the classic P + Ampeg... really, you can't go wrong either way. But for the first show with the new amp, I'd also play the Ric to really get a feel for the amp's strengths relative to the last

Yeah, I'm gonna go this route. I'll be playing them back and forth a bit I am sure for the next few weeks. Just to see which my new amp like better!

But for an apples to apples comparison I think I will play the Ric.

If I had those 2, I would just use both for whichever song suits a particular bass more. For example, if the song focuses on mids, play the ric.

The best sounding one will be the one to match your outfit.
This advice was from Adam Clayton of U2 who also advises that a black bass is the best cause it goes with everything just like every girl should have a LBD.
