I can't find these rolls anywhere? Help!

These were as much a staple of Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner as turkey, ham, stuffing, sweet potatoes, etc. throughout my life. In the past few years, I haven't been able to find then anywhere (I'm in Sacramento, CA). I've tried several other kinds of dinner rolls - there's just no substitute.

It doesn't have to be this brand - but it does have to be brown 'n' serve with the muffin shape, preferably with the grooves on top. Do any of you still find this kind of brown 'n' serve rolls in your local stores?

Rolls I can find, but this particular kind eludes me. Again, not necessarily the brand, but the shape. It just browns better and tastes better than other kinds of rolls I've tried.

So, regarding your post, perhaps the key is to go straight to a standalone bakery as opposed to the supermarket. The bakeries in the supermarkets I searched didn't have them.

The supermarkets and local bread factory outlet stores here have them. When the local bread factory has an overrun, I can buy them for 25 cents or 50 cents a package sometimes. Most of the time, they are 99 cents there. I even like putting them under the over broiler for a short time to brown the tops and either put butter on them or pour turkey or chicken gravy over them. YUM!

Big Lots and other stores here sell Nickels brand as well as others.

Now I have to try Big Lots. I think I'll try Grocery Outlet, and Smart and Final, too. My brother couldn't find them at Costco. I didn't have them for Thanksgiving :(, but I hope to have them for Christmas :)! The search continues...

Costco won't have those.
Most of the grocery stores around here have them, Safeway, Hagen, Albertsons, WinCo, and the bakery outlets.
I didn't think to check Grocery Outlet or Big Lots, but I don't go in those stores anyway.

Roll On !!!! I'm surprised the OP hasn't been able to acquire something similar to those Sunbeams. Me, I'm having a hard time finding bacon wrapped shrimp that usually appear between Thanksgiving and New Years. When I lived in PA. I could find them in BJ's but here in WI I can't find them anywhere. Sam's club doesn't have them neither does Costco. I'm ready to call a manufacturer and pay for express shipping:(

Thanks for the info, guys!

I don't know about Albertson's (a number of them closed in this area many years ago), but I know just where to find Safeway in very nearby Rancho Cordova. I'll let you know what I find tomorrow. I missed going to some supermarkets, but I didn't want to do too much driving around. Thanks for helping me narrow it down.

Man what a trip down memory lane. I remember on the rare occasion we could afford steak growing up mom would brown some of those rolls while dad grilled. Then he would open them up down the middle and put a pat of butter in and close it back up so the butter melted. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

I shall get some tomorrow!

It's funny how such a little thing can put such a big smile on one's face!:D While I was out, I also tried Grocery Outlet and Smart & Final. Neither store carried this kind of rolls, though your results may vary depending on where you live.

EDIT: I was going to try Big Lots, but that was too far to drive.

I've never even heard of them but next time I see them in a store, I'm going to pick up a bag and give them a try.
