I'm reviving this old thread. 
Has anyone tried King's Hawaiian jalapeno sweet rolls? I've been wanting to try them for a while, and the supermarket I go to finally has some. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed. The sweet and spicy flavors don't really go together.

Yep... Around here they replaced them with the Hawaiian rolls. I too miss those warm and brown on top with butter shoved down the middle... Mmmm
The Hawaiian rolls are just too sweet for me. The brown 'n' serve ones are still king, especially around the holidays. Richland123 always finds the best ones...I'm going to have to let him hook me up if I can't find any good ones around here for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

They carry them in all the Walmart and grocery chains around here, but they are made just down state so that may be why, but they have a store locator so maybe you can find them local to you.
Also, forgot to add. I grew up on Sunbeam brown and serve on holidays. My mom was a killer cook and always laid out a fantastic spread at thanksgiving and Christmas, but she always did it with Sunbeam brown and serve rolls so I'm with you on the yum factor. Sister's rolls are as good or better.

I knew you lived in the Sacramento area; I just didn't know where. I live near Bradshaw and HWY 50. Technically it's "unincorporated," but I call it Sacramento. I do a lot of shopping in Rancho and Citrus Heights, though.Dude, I live in Rancho
Fortunately, this year it was easy to find split-top brown 'n' serve rolls. But I got lucky and also found some big and very tasty butterflake rolls from Raley's/Bel Air's bakery. They look a lot like these:

I got these multi-grain rolls at the local Wal-Mart Bakery a few weeks ago. I like them.
I had a bag of these soft pretzel stick rolls last night I got at the Wal-Mart bakery. I heated them up in the microwave and spread some butter on some and some spray can cheese on some. They were pretty good.

I'd rather find 'em than bake 'em. Since I found really good ones, I'm happy!
I've never even heard of them but next time I see them in a store, I'm going to pick up a bag and give them a try.
I live in Houston Tx I drove around today looking for the brown n serve rolls for my Easter dinner , when to 9 different stores could not find them. I’m not sure if they have been discontinued or what but I am very sad that I can’t find them
Yeah...they used to be in every supermarket/grocery store around Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is sad that they've become so hard to find.
There's for sure an advantage to having someone else make those, but they wouldn't be difficult to make at home at all. The flavor could be easily replicated at home too.
One could even make a double batch of the dough and freeze the extra so it's ready for the next craving. At that point you could have a fresh piping hot tray of rolls faster than the time it'd take you to drive to the store and back.
