Second: I just got am email from PayPal and I am getting a refund. They went in my favor. I am absolutely shocked at how fast this was resolved, but I feel the TB army had a role of you all reported the seller.

whats odd to me, why offer them for so low? I'd think maybe 300ish or so lower than most other asking prices as to not just look fishy, then when a buyer decides to save a few hundo on the buy, bam the seller gets even more than the 1/2 price angle, anyway just odd

For the last 3 days I’ve seen 4 of these ads. Same bass (and finish), same price, same description, and different sellers but all of them not from the US and with no feedback. I reported one to Reverb and I will report whatever I see that’s left.

A scam works best when the victim thinks he is taking advantage of the other guy. A coveted dream bass listed at 50% off market price with PayPal protection might compel a buyer to disregard due diligence in order to close the deal asap before another predator comes along and gobbles up the deal, or worse yet, the seller realizes what he’s got and raises the price because you asked too many questions and asked for more photos.

I knew it was going to weigh in your favor as I mentioned, the same exact thing happened to me last week and they ruled in my favor late last week. Congrats!

Easy to spot a legit listing on Reverb for used gear. The price is somewhere between a few dollars less to hundreds more than you can get the item new. But thats not a guarantee. Those can be fake too.

Nobody "deserves" to get screwed.

You had suspicions. You did due diligence. You took precautions. You recognized a risk. You mitigated risk. You followed up. You took action.

Seems to me you did everything you could do under the circumstances.

At worst they pay Insurance for losses as cost of doing business.

Possibly they will have to eat it at that cost. If it was megabux, I'm sure they would be very tenacious in recovering.
