... I deserve it! ( Reverb Fraud)

I just wanted to share my story....
There was an American Pro 2 for sale half price.. in new condition
All the alarm bells went off but couldn't take my eyes off it.
I read on here that Reverb is receptive to buyers when there is trouble, and thought since I'm paying Paypal l could fight a fraudulent case..
I'm one of the lucky ones and financially comfortable enough to take small (stupid) risks..
I was the perfect victim as it was the bass in my top 3 .. Anyways I paid for the thing and contacted the seller about shopping, and was responded to right away.
Exchanged emails and was told it was shipping today...
I knew it was "too good to be true" and still never trusted it. I checked today and the sellers Reverb Shop no longer exists..boom I was right..
I contacted Reverb and was told because it was through PayPal they can't (won't) do anything about it but the shop - seller has been reported as a fraudulent and thanked me.
I'm waiting to see if PayPal will help..

Not writing this to be insulted, or "told you so" because I know i was taking a dumb risk
I am however sharing my story because I was unaware that if you buy straight through PayPal, Reverb will NOT help...
And wanted to share as a cautionary tale....

I'll update of there's anything news worthy to share..
Was it the Dark Night P bass?

First: If your username is based on the BAND, I like you already ;) I phrased it that way because I took a silly risk. that's all.

Yeah, I know... I've been there. I strongly believe in the principle of caveat emptor but I also don't like letting predators off any easier, at all.

Nick Cave, related bands and works, have had a place in my music collection since I was in high school in the '80s and the unique musical making ways of Warren Ellis are interesting.

A lot of people these days want the champagne experience for lemonade money. Some of these dupes even walk into these things knowing it seems too good to be true but the greed makes them take that risk.
This sounds an awful lot like blaming the victim for the culprit’s crime. Pretty cynical. I trust you don’t extend that logic to more serious criminal offenses.

Hi,

First, you don't deserve it.

Second, scammers are experts at human behaviour. They knew it would be someone's dream bass and that it would trigger an emotional response which would make you discard rational evidence. Nothing to be ashamed.

Third, I'm very dissapointed at Reverb. They're there just to collect their comission. I see no benefit buying from their platform.

I did the same thing with a bass on (believe it or not) Etsy, paid by paypal and they refunded my money after about 10 days. Paypal will almost always refund your money, they don't release it right away I believe. I have gotten reimbursed by Paypal for several things over the years. I'm sure Reverb knows this and that is why they are letting paypal handle it.

Jeesh. I noticed that 5 different listings over the last 5 days and have reported it to Reverb everytime.

Tijuana, Argentina, another place in Mexico, today it was for sale in Austria.

Its easy to spot as the shipping is like $20 from the other side of the world. lol

I thought maybe these dark knights were stolen off those southern california trains a while back.
