OK.. long story short;
When Fender released the Rascal bass, I wanted one. But, as usual - no leftys. So, I went to the Custom Shop dealer in Riverside, Ca. And, let's just say I was less than impressed. The guy (owner? Don't know, but if he was my employee, I'da fired his rude ass) very grudgingly took down my info, and said they'd be in touch. After no word for a month or so, I bypassed Mr. Can't Be Bothered, and called the Custom Shop direct. After they got over their mad at being called, I told them what I wanted; A left handed Rascal Bass; same color, same pickguard, etc., but with only 2 lipstick pickups instead of 3, and a much simplified control set. They said it would be expensive; I said I didn't care. They said it would probably be a Master Built bass, and would cost $10 K. I said I didn't care, and that I had that much in my pocket right then (and I did, actually.) The guy hemmed and hawed around some more; and I finally realized that it was the "lefty" part that they didn't want to do. So, I said something like "if flipping a Rascal body blank over to make a lefty is too much for your Master Builders, you really aren't much of a Custom Shop, are you?" And, that's when he said... what he said, and slammed the phone down. So I bought the parts for a short scale Warmoth Mini-P, and spent the rest on a high-end AR-15 rifle/scope combo. And me, my Warmoth, and my AR-15, lived happily ever after...
No, I don't want it - for several reasons:
!. As you can see, Fender CS and I don't get along too well. AFAIC, they never have, and never will, make anything I will ever touch, much less own...
2. That bass looks far too nasty for me to want to touch it; much less own it..
3. There's pieces missing, and he should have taken better care of it...
4. Any friend of mine knows it's not necessary to reward me for doing what a friend's supposed to do, anyway. And finally...
5. My friends know I'm left handed - so that nasty looking what's-left-of-a-bass is useless to me...
