I don't like plain black basses

Okay, I admit it: I really can't stand a black Fender with a white pickguard! And you know what worse? Black with a brownish rosewood fretboard! And natural headstock! Come on! That looks like somebody just pieced together all the last parts he had left in stock on a friday afternoon and couldn't be bothered anymore.

I'm sorry to all you guys who play and love their Fenders like that, I am sure they are great instruments, but to me they always look like toy guitars. Cheap ones.

Sorry!

Sounds like you need to focus more on playing...

I don't like them, either. I'm more of a natural or translucent matte finish guy when it comes to basses.

However, I do love me a black matte finish on a guitar! As long as it has a rosewood or ebony board!

Aaagh, there's always one. At least. I mean, I need to focus more on playing, too, but we're talking cosmetics. For instance, there's a black Sadowsky Modern 5 string in this thread that is, no doubt, a fantastic instrument. But if I was ordering one, I'd order a different color.
