I have never played anywhere with anyone where a solid body bass, or even a chambered one, would be desirable, or even welcome. I wouldn't even know how to turn one on.

I have never played anywhere with anyone where a solid body bass, or even a chambered one, would be desirable, or even welcome. I wouldn't even know how to turn one on.
I’m at a point now where I still want other basses, but the instruments I have are playable beyond my current skill level. I still look, I still have gas, but I can never justify another bass.
Currently sitting at 6 basses and the only other bass I want is a 6 string fretless. Since I want a very specific bass, and they never pop up in a price range I can justify, it’s one of those “wants” that might never become a reality.
In recent years I’ve been consolidating my collection into instruments that actually make me want to play, as opposed to having a bunch of instruments for the hell of it. Ultimately I want a home studio, and at 24 years old I am about 90% of the way to having all I need.

I all seriousness though, I totally understand. Last year I had around 18 guitars. No way I needed them all and just picked them up over the years when they were good deals, pretty much all exclusively were used. I just jumped on the opportunity when they presented themselves. I did a major downsizing and kept two acoustics, two electrics, and two basses. Sold everything else and put the money in the back. I have zero credit card debt now, Tier 1 credit, and am happy with what I have. Since massively thinning the herd though there have been guitars/basses that have come and gone, but my rule is one in, one out.

Looks like you have an amp in the photo. Do you plug you acoustic/electric basses into it?

Okay. I get it. I just realized that you really don't need another bass. An Acoustic Curmudgeon should just stay that way. And I salute your position. We all get to choose.

It's not that I constantly buy new basses. Just that I tend not to sell them off.
The basses I have, I acquired over 17 years. I've sold two basses I once owned.
Does he have a website or anything? Cause I'd eventually like to get a bigger, better ABG.
Nope...doesnt build commercially. He builds for his own use, and I happened to run into an extra.
The Martin can plug in if I play a venue larger than the big one can cover unplugged....haven't used the amp in years though.
So you wouldn't know how to plug in a solid body base?
It's pretty much the same as your Martin.

Ah, I see...you're addressing my claim that I don't know how to turn on a slab. Please consider it just a little hyperbole. In fact, I also have one 6 string guitar and one 12 string that have pickups...There's even a small mixer there so I can run my microphone through that Rumble.
I will confess to a certain amount of lust for an acoustic baritone, though.

This is where it could get a bit ridiculous for me. As I fill in the last of my bass "needs", my thoughts are already moving on towards filling in around the edges: baritones and 12 strings ("-s" because I’d have to eventually do 'em in both acoustic and electric versions, as I thoroughly enjoy both sides of the playing world).
A cello, a standup, a P — all great things to contemplate, too. A fretless acoustic bass (I’ve got one of those - really fits a Pentagle sort of thing without going all the way to the size and expense and commitment to technique of a decent standup bass. I could certainly live without the acoustic fretless bass, but it is kinda cool to have around. A definite change of pace.
Anyway, like you, I keep my fretted acoustic bass always out in my room and it’s the one I grab at any time. Really love having it. And it definitely fits the acoustic living room/porch jam mood way better than an electric — that kind of thing always bothers me. Acoustic means acoustic!
