There is therapy for that these days. Modern medicine has come light years.I just don't have any use for another bass, and can quit looking at them.
But everyone knows that we keep being told by the rest of the band that if we can play the root notes then we can "play well enough"! Get out that credit card!I'm down to three, a MIM Jazz, an ATK300, and a Mustang. I will upgrade/buy more when I know how to play these well enough.
I thought buying basses was the therapy, to replace that therapy. There is therapy for that these days. Modern medicine has come light years.![]()

Hey!!
This is TB, therefore you must lust for more.
We are bigger promoters of GAS than Exxon.
Hey if it works for you, Awsome!!!I only play acoustic bass with acoustic guitars. I have two basses. One is big enough and loud enough to get heard unamped. The other is almost that loud, has amazing tone, and amps extremely well. I haven't bought a bass in three years, but I look a lot. Today I understood that musically as well as morally, I just don't have any use for another bass, and can quit looking at them. Free at last, etc. Oh, and ymmv.

Ha ha! Martins... know a few with that obsession.Think it's bad here, go over to the Martin Forum, UMGF. You got at least 9 body sizes, at least 5 bracing patterns, nearly infinte wood combinations, a couple of dozen trim levels, and models reaching back over 175 years....that's just one maker. And those people are hoarding stuff that starts at 2k and accelerates in a J curve...I watched a Martin auction on eBay a few years ago top out at 250k, and it was not a celebrity owned guitar. I have 6 Martins and I'm not even a collector, just an innocent bystander.
So which of your two is the loudest? I've still never played an acoustic that I thought was loud enough but I did see a guy playing one on the streets of Copenhagen ( way, way, way back ) which was supremely loud unamplified and also sounded stupendous when slapped. I still kick myself for not getting the make and model but it could well just be that it was the player and not the instrument.
