I don't trust robots yet

I told my robot to get me a beer and he told me to get lost.

I don't get no respect, I tell ya.

Lost in space?

Pampered Menial was, and still is, one of my favourite albums. Whatever floats ya boat.
I wasn’t stating that they were bad or anything like that, but as they were from St. Louis, to me they just sounded like a Missouri version of Kansas, and I was like, been there, done that(and I’m from KCMO). Plus, Surkamp’s helium-huffing vocals were a type of weird I wasn’t interested in.
Was I was interested in, having already heard Silver Apples and being absorbed by the Clockwork Orange soundtrack, let alone listening in that time period to Tangerine Dream, Eno, and Amon Duul, was stuff that sounded like the future.

How about Andy Pratt? Just WT indeed F was that all about?

I never checked the writer credits, I hope the Woody Guthrie estate got residuals from that. I can only stand the Bee Gees in their Beatle-ish, baroque pop era, no singing dolphins for me.

I used to have this single as a kid, it was on a par with Napoleon XIV…

But you might relate to the sentiment of this…

Originally done by Manfred Mann.

I have a series of tests I run. So far the LLMs have not passed. I see AI responses to web searches that are sometimes comically poor, except that some people will rely on them for health advice, wiring their house or whatever. The responses can be very confident and very wrong. As someone who worked in the area I find LLMs in general impressive but the lack of caveats regarding the responses very troubling.

There are dozens...if not hundreds...of books and movies that warn us of the dangers of AI and robots. Yet, companies keep charging ahead with their development. Scares the crap out of me. Not so much for myself, but for my grandchildren.

I work in the IT industry, and have people who laugh at me because I am so anti-AI. They tout it's usefulness and how "cool" it is. No thanks. I'd be one of the guys that follows John Connor into the fire.

Techno zealots tend to overlook the reality that any new technology will always end up being used in a way we never saw coming. Robotics and AI enable all kinds of innovation in manufacturing, medical and scientific progress. They also enable all kinds of diabolical criminal activity that is very very scary.
