I dreamed all my basses got stolen.

Let's say it happened. You can only buy 2 basses back. Which two ones, and why?!

Ridiculously tough one there, but...

1. The bass my wife bought me as a wedding gift, with an engraved tuner. Its a 5 string Musicman Sterling, in tuxedo white w/ black pg :). The reasons are obvious.

2. My American Performer Mustang would definitely be the other, because it's my main bass right now. I love every single sound that comes out of that thing, love the ergonomics, love the pickup balance (I can solo the p or the j pickup without touching the volume control)... yeah. That bass makes me happy.

It would be real hard for me to let go of the Minarik though, in the FAIK video in my sig. That bass was made to my specs and given to me to me by them. I don't see something like that happening again any time soon in my life, and its sort of like a trophy bass to me.

I say listen to your gut and get some security.
about 2 years ago I had a dream about me cutting some steel and woke up really really uneasy. so I went out and bought a full face shield instead of just my usual goggles. within 10 minutes of wearing the darn thing a cutting wheel exploded right into my face. it would have went right into my left eye and cheek area.......

I did in fact eat sauerkraut last night, on a tofu hotdog at a barbecue
 lovemesomesauerkraut!

I get a kick out of how we do things in dreams that we would never normally do
care to personalize and elaborate? :D i've done things in dreams which i'm not capable of doing when awake (e.g., super-human, magical stuff), but most of the wish-fulfilling aspects are true-to-life.

Actually was a 2 part dream.

Could be weirder.

Author Neil Gaiman told of this crazy dream experience he had:

He dreamt a good friend of his who was coping with a very serious illness had died. He had just been given the news and was feeling completely heartbroken about her passing. But then he woke up and was relived because he realized it was just a bad dream. Then he woke up again, and for real this time, and remembered his friend actually had died the day before.

He said he didn’t get much done for the rest of the day after that.

In your dream, were the thieves driving one of these? That’s a lot of basses...

Many years ago, (many, many) I had to sell my only bass. Placed an ad in a local newspaper and got a call from a guy who wanted to come by and see it. He asked my address which I gave him. Then he asked if he could come by that evening - I said I couldn't do it then I was going out. He said he would call tomorrow and arrange a time. He didn't call, but another interested party called and we arranged for him to come by. When he showed up I went to get the bass that I stored in a closet. It wasn't there. I thought to myself "Now where did I put it?" I looked under the bed. I looked everywhere - then I realized it was gone, and that is why the bedroom window was open the night before when I was sure I closed it. The whole thing felt like a dream.

It wasn't.

What if you don't remember dreams?
I might wake up 3 times a year with the memory of a dream.
I've asked a few doctors about this, including therapists and head shrinkers and nobody had anything to offer.

At least I miss the bad ones...

My recurring bass dream is that I find myself with some weird group of former bandmates, and it's showtime. Of course I have no idea what I am to do, my old black TBird is in terrible disrepair. Then it gets worse. The neck turns to rubber and I'm trying like hell to play the damn thing. And somehow I do. Everything is fine until everyone is pissed at me for not being around to load out. I'm not making this up (well, I guess if it's a dream I am making this up) but this is one of those old standards I keep going back to. You know, like trying to find your locker and not knowing what your next class is.
