i hate beer

That's what all coffee connoisseurs say. When they make me a cup of their coffee that's supposed to be the greatest on earth, it still tastes like warm, bitter water to me.

I don't like coffee either.

Yes, but did they ROAST it themselves, and within the past few days?

I've had "connoisseur" coffe that sucked. It was just as burnt and stale as any other coffee.

Coffee gets stale 10 days after roasting, and should be thrown out 10 minutes after brewing if it's not being comsumed.

FWIW, a home roaster can also burn coffee and make a poor cup.

Good single origin coffees can have citrus, fruit, flower overtones in the cup. I've yet to have a good cup in a commercial establishment in my area, but if you know a home roaster you may get lucky and get a good cup.

Yes, it was freshly roasted. No, I don't think it tasted good. The fact is I don't think coffee is very nice. I don't like the taste. I've tried it in different forms, none of them very pleasing to me. Apparently, that's really difficult for coffee lovers to understand but it's true :)

or any zealot for that matter... far too many strong opinions refuse to accept that an opposite opinion can exist, let alone be valid.

Hey man, I don't really care if anyone likes it or not. I used to hate coffee too before I discovered roasting so I thought I'd try to share something that I've come to love.

I never said anyone's opinion was wrong or not valid. I just like to share that which brings me pleasure so that others may discover the same pleasure if it works out for them.

i just do. i thought i wanted one the other night so i got me one. it was the first beer i had in over 25 years, i hated it then and i still hate it. i had to choke the damn thing down, literally. lucky for me the place i was at served pepsi so the night was not a total loss. how many more beer haters we got out there or am i the only one?
Personally I am a big beer fan, but this thread is further proof that TB OT is accepting of homosexuals. Good job fellas. Its great to see this level of openness.

no offense intended and it was definitely NOT aimed at you... sorry if it appeared that way.

I'm simply adding to the fact that people with strong passion towards something (ie music, politics, religion, etc) tend to not be able to easily accept that someone else might not share the same passion or even be against that passion.

I'm a 40+ year old fatherless, TVless, Cell Phoneless, Godless, etc person... by personal choice. I'm just reacting to the line drawn to coffee in the beer thread :smug:

No worries - and to get back on topic...

Dogfish Head IPA is what I like when I can afford it. I can also see why some don't like beer, it was an acquired taste for me and I'm not by any means a regular beer drinker. If I recall the first few times I had a beer I didn't like it but at age 18 I was determined to get past it in order to learn how to drink :D

I'd still rather be whiskey drunk than beer drunk.

You guys definitely haven't had good coffee.

I always love this response. Now, I'm someone who loves coffee and beer and coffee flavored beer but this bit of logic has been used on me in the past.

When I tell people at picnics/BBQs etc that I don't like potato salad or macaroni salad or especially egg salad, I'm very often told, "oh but you have to try MINE, it will change your mind." I'm almost 32 years old and had countless opportunities to change my mind. Trust me, that urge to upchuck won't be tamed by your secret recipe.

i absolutely can't stand the stuff either. remember those bitter beer face commercials? that's how i look every six months or so when someone convinces me to try a different kind.

yes, i'm an adult male in wisconsin with a german sounding last name that doesn't like beer. don't tell anyone, in fact, i was never here

i do really like vodka though
