Just forget those 15-25 watts combo, go with rumble 40 combo . Light, good tone, unexpected loud and cool retro look.

this was to be an amp only for middle of the night play, so being unexpectedly loud doesn't really matter. i was looking for very small, cheap and as light as possible, and i'd say the hartke HD15 i ended up with nailed every one of those options.

So what made you like the HD15? Just curious since I’ve recently A/B’d between the HD 15 and Rumble 25. So far I’m liking the HD 15 but it’s an unfair comparison due to their speaker size but I did hear the HD 15 very well while having the tone set flat and the volume respectively at 3 as the rumble 25.

so for the past few weeks, i've been trying to find a very light, decent sounding and cheap combo for playing late at night in the livingroom. i actually bought a blackstar fly3 bass, but there was something wrong with it. i returned it and got a blackstar fly3 bass pack (with the extra speaker), but i'm not pleased with it and sweetwater is letting me return it.

so we headed off to guitar center where they have no small bass amps lighter than the rumble 25, which is heavier than my wimpy self wanted to deal with, but i really do like that particular amp. sam ash carries some of the amps that interest me, but there are none in stock within 150 miles of me.

i wasn't able to find any of the other amps on my list to try, so i read reviews, checked demos - ignoring the tone on the ones with the mic touching or almost touching the grill.

that leaves these two as the best sounding. i know the rumble is going to be challenging for me to move around, although i could slide it on the floor. the warwick, a full 8 pounds lighter, has been recommended to me by several people on TB and the samples have a hint of ampeg BA-108 to the tone, which is nice, but there are none in stock anywhere, so i'd have to buy to try AND would have to wait till mid december, assuming they show up on time.

for me, the weight is why i chose the HD15 which is is almost as heavy as the rumble 40. i'm guessing that's because the HD15 is made of MDF while the rumble 40 is plywood. if you don't have wrist or shoulder damage, the HD25 was louder and sounded pretty similar, so more headroom.

Surprised you're still wrestling with this choice, but nonetheless enjoying the ride. These threads are cool not only because we the reader get the skinny on a range of gear, but also because we get to shop on your dime, as it were, a vicarious thrill, and a blessedly cheap one for those of us with no money to treat ourselves to new gear. Luckily, Im blessed to have what I need.

Probably not so much don't know as can't see an adequate market at a profitable price point. There probably aren't enough customers out there for high quality high price small size bass rigs for a mass market manufacturer to be interested.
