dude... craigs list, used gear.... bank loan (i do not advise that road!)... or rental! GC has a credit card and a 30 day return policy...:smug:

I'm licensed to operate redheads, (Don't try them at home, we're trained professionals) Still not sure that's what we have here.
And Ditto to Craigslist. Bankloan, bad! I've gotten some big used cabs on Craigslist, come to think of it I just ran ads there for bass bins, big'uns too bad the OP is in Fla.

ill guess... lindenhurst?

i 2nd the bank loan = bad idea thing.... but 2012 and all... fires, floods, killer bees.... who cares about credit these days!

OP- these guys have made some good suggestions, i wish you luck! you'll do fine!

no comments on the firebush, been there done that ....

in general, i would recommend spending more on the head than the cab. you can always upgrade the cab later. a good head will make a crappy cab sound better, but a crappy head will sound like crap with everything. definitely get yourself a good DI - venues that hold 500 to 700 ppl should have a good FOH sound system - get a rig that will give you enough stage volume and run a DI to the soundman.

Dont rule out a combo either. I high powered combo around 200 watts will give you the stage volume you need and you can run a line out for PA support. You can get a lot more for $700 in a combo than what you would in a head/cab. Look used and see if you can find any deals on craigslist or ebay. Good luck

Maybe I missed the question in one of the other posts but do you have PA support? That could make the need for a big cabinet a moot point. Avatar makes decent cabinets at very reasonable prices. Pair one up with a used amp that puts out at least 300 watts (of course, a bit more wouldn't hurt) and you should be able to keep your head above water.

Lindenhurst! Hell no! Jammed there regularly for a bit, (Lefties)but way too far uptown! Smith's Point. We don't leave them gingers lying around where they can get into mischief! See you in August at the GTG? that'll be back near your neighborhood.

i dunno man.... i did the GTG in 03' (in my past life...eh hem)... everybody drank my beer! annnd there was no AC!

the OP might be able to get a used redhead for around $700... she may be a lil beat up though! those were pretty good back then!

i have a redhead as it is, she's the best! i play mesa though!
