Oh my........that has to be the twin of my Peavey! I bought mine in 81 or 82 and that one is identical! And for only 525, if it is fully functional it is a great buy!
Haven't been watching ebay much lately (so I don't spend money) but my minty fresh one was under 300. Red is fairly rare, so that may mean it fetches more.
Last one I bought was 175 SHIPPED. Ebay auction went off during the SuperBowl last year. Put $100 into it and foolishly sold it to, Tim Marks here? Anyway

I see the pickup selector switch, but it seems to be missing the magical phase switch....
what year is that? Looks good though... I wish I had a sunburst one... I wish I had a sunburst bass of any kind.... they just look classy.

i need to submerge the selector switch too -- my white T-40, which is my main bass in my metal band, has a mini-toggle for the pickup selector and i *constantly* whack it while I'm playing.
As for overall condition on this one, it was pretty worked when I got it -- spent a coupla hours just getting it into the shape it's in now. I paid $150, which i think was totally fair.

Big winter storm hitting the midwest so I went and picked up my new T-40 last night. It looks great but it's got a couple problems that I need to fix before I can play it.
First, the trussrod needs a big adjustment and my sockets won't reach the nut. I've read that I can order a tool from Peavey but their CS is closed since it's a weekend. Anybody have any other suggestions?
Next, the pickup selector switch is broken. I can move the nub a bit with a screwdriver so I've been able to verify that both pickups work but I can't get them both to work at the same time. I'd like to use an original looking switch and I've found info that Invalid Link Removed is as close as I can come. Again, any other suggestions?
Pots are a bit scratchy, too. I'm hoping a good cleaning will take care of it so I don't have to replace them, too.
The bass appears to be an '82 with the flat pickup and phase selector switches, metal nut and blade pickups. It weighs a shade over 11 lbs on my cheap kitchen scale. It's in very good overall condition but the previous owner was a heavy smoker so the whole thing stinks pretty bad. I'll give it a good cleaning when I'm fixing the switch. I'll post a pic shortly.

For the switch, dig around on the peaveyt60.com forum. Chip Todd posted a little while back that he'd found the correct C&K model for the switches and posted it. It's not critical, any DPDT on-on switch will work for the phase and any DP3T will work for the selector.

You'll love it!!! I miss mine (1982 - same color combo as yours)......enjoy the tone variations you can get from it!
I've got one of their truss rod wrenches on order; on a follow up call last week, I was informed that the last shipment of wrenches they received from their supplier were not up to snuff, so they are waiting on a new shipment. Mine if for a Sarzo so I'm not sure if it is the same model of wrench... Very nice folks at Peavey by the way.

Thanks. A couple guys on the peaveyt60.com forum mentioned 5/16" or 8mm. I tried both but the angle doesn't seem to work--I can't get them down into the hole far enough. They're just standard deep well sockets though, not specifically thin wall, so that might have something to do with it. Maybe I'll try again with the tuners removed.
yeah, removing those two tuners should only take you a couple of minutes, and should allow you to get the job done.
