I know most don't like Gene Simmons.

I think Gene behaved horribly in the interview, and is more evidence of him having plenty of room for growth as a human.
In the 70's, they never cussed at concerts and were very polite to interviewers. They should take a look at that. I've been a fan since the 70's and now Gene directly blames the "fans" for piracy. Hey screw you Gene! I paid for my records and CDs, sometimes twice, and people like me are the only reason you're not a shoe salesman, with no girlfriend and an abnormal collection of porn and comic books! Shouldn't bite the hand that feed you pal.

Gene just got even more greedyand evil as he participated in a Rally For Kids charity in order to raise money for childhood cancer.

It's a double-edged sword. On one hand it is great that they did this, and hopefully more money was raised because of their participation. Maybe some lives will be better because of it.
On the other hand...if you watch his show, you'll know this...these type of outings are frequently PR moves set up by KISS's manager and Gene is just told he is committed to do it and has to be there. Kiss has done PS announcements for the Cancer Society as far back as the 70's.
Personally, I believe if he was really committed to a cause like this he could make a much bigger impact than just attending a fundraiser. Think. Bigger than Lance Armstrong's impact on cancer awareness. Gene already has like over 300 times the money than Lance, he could do alot more and not even feel it if he really wanted to.
So it's good he did it, but sad, because it makes me more aware of what he isn't doing. He's invested much more time, energy and money on the topic of "piracy", so we know where his priorities are.
That's a really lovely video. What's neat about that is that it's clear the guys are all above-average musicians. They can sing in harmony quite nicely. It's kind of cool to see them in very human circumstances, complete with the stacked chairs and all the hallmarks of a mere-mortal band hanging out before a show. Cool.
What's up with Gene's bass tone? It's hideous. Sounds like he's using an octaver pointed north along with a distortion pedal. Gross!

I started playing bass because I wanted to be Gene Simmons shame I can't sing or I would be in a Kiss cover band.

Anyway, Gene is putting together a Monster box set of hundreds of demos of song's he written. He's currently in the process of writing an overview. I'm very glad to hear this, because I'm sure there will be alot of gems. Gene was always the best and most creative songwriter in KISS, and IMO, a better musician than Ace, who was, IMO, average. I find it odd, though, that a clown who spits blood and "fakes" playing bass, and is a hack and a tool, and not a real musician would take the time to cuthundreds of demos by himself and then release them knowing he won't make alot of money?
Also, his son Nick, Tommy Thayer, and himself played with Robbie Krieger of the Doors recently for a charity show, Nick is likely to become their new lead singer, and at the gig, Gene played bass. Very cool. Sounds like some tasty improvising around 0:11 and 0:35 and closer to the end.
