They are neck heavy, especially with the ball bat size necks that come on them (at least the P’s and J’s) a few installed the HipShot ultralight tuners but they cost more than the bass, lol. A high-mass bridge and a wide strap does help.C Stone: how is the balance on the Glarry stuff?
I recently got this Squier Sonic Bronco for less than $200 thanks to a sale. I mainly went for it because I liked the color (Link Removed) and it had a better bridge and tuners than previous Bronco models. I ended up getting a DiMarzio rail pickup put in because while the stock pu sounded fine tonewise, the single coil hum became annoying to deal with.
Anyway, I really love this thing. Its right up my alley ergonomically, very light but not neck divey, really nice satiny neck finish which almost feels like it has rolled edges. Great frets too, nicely finished. So I did have to put about another hundred bucks in it but Im very happy with it.View attachment 5115549

Hey fellow bronco lover. Am thinking of the new tahitian coral sonic bronco , can you tell me in millimeters the E-G distance at both the bridge and nut? I am thinking of building one out with a baby blue pearl PG and jazz blade pickups like my last WBO2023 entry(jazzrunner)... Sacrilege ? to route a brand new body but..I want to![]()
Thank you. Wow surprised by the 60mm bridge , old broncos wer much smaller at 53ish mm. Mine are 51 with a 17mm saddles. Quite a different beast compared to old broncos'bridge - 60mm
nut - 30mm
Love the stereo in the background. Cool receiver!I've been a fan of cheap basses for a few years now.
The Westone Pantera X775 5-string bass I purchased a couple months ago fits in that category after costing me just under $350. Originally I was looking at a passive Sire 5-string but decided to hold out a little longer and ran into this being sold from Sam Ash through Reverb.

I agree.I shared this in my NBD thread, just got one of those cheap Sterling Ray5 subs which is in actuality a nice instrument, especially for the price. Photo attached from its debut gig and one of the beautiful wood on this one.

Maybe give the Ray4 a try?I agree.
I test-drove one of those last week and was very impressed.
The bass sounded good but since I'm not a 5 player I stumbled all over the neck.
I apologized to the store owner for the hideous racket I made,
and he had the nerve to say, "You sound good to me".
Boy, people will do anything to make a sale....057912
I... if anyone wants to see them...
Ok, I admit it, I like a inexpensive basses. I currently play the latest version of a Sterling ray 4 I got on sale for $269. I got it as a beater, but I have played it at every gig for almost 2 years. Restrung, adjusted the pickup height, and never quit playing it. I have been looking at selling the ray4, & my fender p, and getting a Ray34 and but the ray4 is solid. Anyone else like me?
