Ok, I admit it, I like a inexpensive basses. I currently play the latest version of a Sterling ray 4 I got on sale for $269. I got it as a beater, but I have played it at every gig for almost 2 years. Restrung, adjusted the pickup height, and never quit playing it. I have been looking at selling the ray4, & my fender p, and getting a Ray34 and but the ray4 is solid. Anyone else like me?
I've known other folk saying that they like their budget bass more than their Fender.

I have expensive, custom made Drake basses that play better than anything. I also have an Epiphone Embassy and a Sterling Ray4HH that I snagged for very little. I gig the Drakes and tote the cheapies to jams and open mic notes. My bass life is very happy
One of our gigs is gig/open mic/jam. It used to get a little rough. I bought a ray4 just for that reason. Now I play it at my good gigs too.

My first bass was a budget bass, Hondo, and it was crap. I did learn how to play on it though, until I got serious. So it was worth the $200 I paid for it, in the 80's.
Yeah, funny, compared to then, how well a $300 bass is made. Not a lot of difference between a $300 bass & a $1000 bass. Mainly the finish. All are indo made, same factory, same parts!

Hurry, their getting hard to find new .
Got mine through in 2017.
Gods honest truth, I've never had to do anything to it , I mean absolutely nothing .
New strings & battery when needed
, I've never had to adjust , tighten , loosen , raise , lower so much as a single screw .
It's exactly the same factory setup since the first day I got it 8 yrs ago , till right now.
I play my Brice Freak 5 str. single cutaway.
alot ..
It's a MoNsTeR bass in every way.

ps - Rondo music went under in 2019 .

I emailed Rondo. That freak bass is confirmed out of production. But yes, they are very much alive.

Ironically, I worked in Union NJ in the early 2000’s and went to Rondo’s former brick and mortar store many a time on my lunch break. They sold Agile, Brice, and some other Chinese knock off guitars. I got an Agile strat that was beautiful, but would not play in tune no matter how much I tried to set it up. I also had a Brice Jazz 5 that was fantastic that I got used at NJ Guitar and Bass center for $175.

They had great pricing on Chinese knock offs of US guitars, basses, and drums. They also has great pricing on drum hardware. In fact, I entered a “win a shure mic” drawing with a biz card in a fishbowl there, and won a $800 shure KSM44 studio mic. I was flabbergasted. They called me and I was like, what’d i win? A 58? They told me it was a KSM44 and I drove over there likely split. Cool place. Nice people. I wish them much success.
