Left to right:
SX 70's Fretless Jazz
Valenti #154
Squier VMJ5

I've always wondered what those things below the G string are.. The things that look like thumb rests, but are in the wrong position....

It's a finger rest. When the bass was a younger instrument, it was thought that players would want to pluck (not slap, mind you) with the thumb, and anchor the fingers of their plucking hand on that little rest.

I challenge you to a duel!

(Insert white glove slap)

Just playing. Sweet family, bro. I've got a '73 Jazz but I mainly just look at it.

I'm not scared of your P shooters. :)

Thanks, the Valenti is THE bass right now. Picked up the Squier as a beater and jam bass. The fretless is for fretless stuff of course. :D

What beautiful representations of the Jazz Bass. I have not been on the forum in a long time, and the first thing I see is someone saying they love the Jazz Bass. A while back, I looked at a lot of threads here, and ended up buying an American Series Jazz Bass. I'm primarily a guitar player, but I have formed quite an attachment for my Jazz Bass, and would not part with it under any conditions.
