I got the Social Security call today. From the sound quality of their recording, I think they've been using the same cassette tape since they started.

Sweet. The caller informed me that because of unpaid taxes, the U.S. Marshals (not IRS agents....Marshals), have been directed to arrest me immediately if I don't provide a CC number to pay the tax. I asked him if he'd wait while I got my card. I put the phone down and went about my business. The sucker stayed on the line for 40 minutes before realizing he'd been made.
In Canada, the scam starts with Canadian Revenue Service.
The real name of the legit office is Revenue Canada.
Sweet.
I have on occasion dropped into a really breathy voice and asked "what are you wearing...?" and when greeted by the predictable "huh?" gone on to "I'm naked and you sound sooooo hot!"
The caller hung up pretty quickly.

That's what I would have assumed, but the quality was so bad...Computer generated voice.
Yeah, if i ever get caught with a live one( which is rare), male or female, i always inquire about their underwear. Of course, that could backfire.Sweet.

My first sign it's a BS call, is a 3-5 second delay from when I say "Hello" and they start talking. It tells me they're wearing a headset at a computer. I speak very quietly. They will increase the volume of their headset to try & hear me. After a bit, I will shout loudly or make some noise to irritate them.
Last refuge of scoundrelsI get the lions share of scam calls from this Prophet Menasseh Jordan joker
'Prophet' hounds thousands on their cellphones
Yup, if they say Revenue Canada you know it's a scam. I'm told they do this deliberately as less informed people are more likely to fall for the scam. They are not Revenue Canada any longer. Their official name is Canada Revenue Agency.
