I Miss The 2x15!

I replaced my Ampeg fliptop with a Standel Artist that I loaded w/D-140's(after 2 sets of jensens).Really was one of my favorites....traded it in on a new Sunn Coliseum w/2x18 in '71.
Now my back says EA Micro and 2x10.

How did you like the Standel? Someone I knew in the '70s had one but I don't remember much about them.

Loved the Standel..wish I had it back except after I put the JBL's in the screws kept pullin' out of the back. I'm guessin' it weighed about 120? maybe...still too much now.

Well, I've located two Acoustic 106 2X15 cabs. I should have them on Friday.

just been missing my old 15's of late. i play all 10's now, but i played 3 15's for like 15 years. Awesome! I wore them out. I used a GK400RB head with them and it rocked balls. EV speakers were sweet.

I was (and still am) one of those players who never cared for the 15" sound. Tried them a few times in the past but could never seem to get into it. Then I got into 12's and for me there was no going back. I use to use my SVT into a cabinet that housed 2, 12" Gauss speakers and for me it was Tone City. The SVT is long gone but I still have that cabinet.

Granted, this was many years ago and who knows, maybe if I tried some of the newer amps with 15's I may change my mind.

Yeah, I agree....I had a Mesa D180 with a 2-15" Mesa cab in the mid 80's. A good 2-15" cab rules! Even the old Kustom 2-15" cabs were great. But the weight.....

Man, that is sweet!!!! I had a 200 with a 3-15" cabinet too, remember how they towered over everything?

I still love 215 cabs, especially the Berg NV and the Mesa PH215. Their old-school Diesel 215 (the one w/ the EV's) is among my all-time top 5 cabs. However 12's bridge the gap for me between 10's and 15's at the moment, but would still love to have one. Nothing can match 'em, really.
