I missed prom

The girl I took to prom eventually gave birth to my daughter...going to prom can change your life significantly.

Awesome dude. Way to make the OP feel better. :applause:

The far greater percentage of us made it through that farce unscathed. You, on the other hand (which you should have used), chose to spooge the first chance you got.

One of the most overrated events in life.

I spent a total of 40 minutes at my senior prom. Went, found the after party, bolted. Got the girl home safe.

Walk in to the dance. Hijack the band and start playing Johnny B. Goode. If your hand starts disappearing, you're totally f'd. Good luck.
Hello, McFly!

I played my prom. Three fourths of the band were members of that years senior class. Strangely, both I and my girlfriend got flirted with aggressively after the gig by people who didn't realize we were in their class. That didn't shock me in my case. I'd only gone there three years. But Jan had gone there since kindergarten. And some of the people coming on to her were girls. That doesn't sound so shocking now. But in 1982 it was a HUGE deal.

I went to someone or other's prom every year of high school except my own senior prom. It's a dance in fancy clothes - can be fun, but no biggie to miss really. My own senior prom, some genius decided that having it on a boat so we could all be locked into a finite space with each other till 2 am or something was a really good idea. I felt a little twinge as the bus drove off with everyone else, but in retrospect really don't feel that I missed anything.

Besides, the real purpose of prom is one last fling with your gf before breaking up, or having overhyped expectations of how it will be this big romantic thing which then get miserably dashed.

Nothing about high school life, dancing, social events, and time wasting caught my interest, so I never went to my school's prom.

Way back then, I was one of those kids that girls didn't take notice to. I tried, but like a lot of kids it never happened. So I didn't bother with my prom or any other dance for that matter. I wasn't upset but the funny this is my parents were upset....sad is more the word.

Never felt like I missed out on anything. (I've always been more of a lone wolf anyway). But to those who went and enjoyed, good for you!

I wasn't into dressing up nice or dancing. I skipped mine. No regrets other than hurting some feelings by declining invitations.

Reminds me of song 'bout Mohair Sam.

Who is the hippie that's
Happenin' all over our town
Tearin up the chicks with
The message that he lays down

Who is the coolest guy
That is what am
Fast talkin', slow walkin'
Good lookin' Mohair Sam

Chicks are makin' reservations
For his lovin' so fine
Screamin' and a faintin'
He's got 'em all waitin' in line

Who is the coolest guy
That is what am
Fast talkin', slow walkin'
Good lookin' Mohair Sam
