I need a delay, delay, delay...

Santa brought a fuzz, but I still need a delay for my electronica combo (although I will probably use it in my rock band too). I really don't know much about the delay pedals out there, so I'm open to all kinds of suggestions BUT...I would really like a delay that doesn't boost/cut the clean volume of the bass (none of the delays I've seen have a 'clean' volume knob).

EDIT: After some further research these are the pedals that have caught my atention:

-Malekko 616
-Catalinbread Montavillian
-Boss DD-7
-MXR Carbon Copy
-Subdecay Echobox (this one is more expensive, so I'm only considering if it's really worth the extra money)

I really am a delay noob, so I don't know which one would suit my needs...I'm not planing to use extremely long delays if that helps.

In my rock band I'd like to get a similar sound to this for some songs i.e. fuzz/dirt--->delay (or at least that's what people told me when I did a thread about this song ages ago).

I have the Way Huge Aqua Puss and use it in a dub/electronica setup... I LOVE the decayed repeats of the analog delay, and it sounds amazing with the OC-2's fat synthy tone. I'm currently looking into the Analaogman ARDX20 for the two channels, longer delay, and tap tempo (to come I believe; Apparently its an external box)... I just haven't heard it in this kind of a set up so take it for what it is. But I do recommend the aqua puss if you don't need more than 300ms

Boss DD-7. 6-and-a-bit seconds of delay. Nice and clean digital delay, analog simulation that's fine for live use, tap tempo, all the stereo stuff if you use it (I don't), and a loop/sample function up to 40 seconds. Delay time, feedback, and effect level can be controlled by an expression pedal (not all at the same time!).

Usual Boss indestructible build, 5 year warranty, and affordable.

i have tried quite a few pedals and it depends on what you are looking for. my quest ended with the Subdecay Echo-box on the digital side (analog voiced). I use my Boss PS-3 Digital Pitch Shifter/Delay if I want cold sterile digital delay but usually run it into the Echobox to warm it up a bit

A digital delay is very clean, does longer delays, and usually a little more versatile with different modes and such. However, many find them to be too sterile.

Analog delays often will only do quicker repeats, feature a 'warmer' or 'darker' sound, and very few have a tap tempo function. Typically used for slapback type delays.

They really can be used for two different things and could definitely warrant one of each on a pedal board.

@kbi-- I'm the bassist for Dreams from Gin. we just had a great CD release show last night at the bugjar.
