I need cheering up...

if only I had a yard. :hmm:

I've wanted a hound dog of some kind for like 5 years now. :D

Go for it!

Social clock. No woman looks forward to the guy who is 35, still working at a degree, and making unlivable wage to scrape by. I think that is the fear underlying here.

Dont let silly concepts bog you down. Life is a never ending journey. It only gets better.
The social clock is not real, unless you allow it be.

When Venerable Master Hsing Yun was asked "How does one deal with loss?" His response was "I think it is better to think about improving your future than to be discouraged by one bad moment. It is better to take a momentary loss than to regret the rest of your life."

Do you have or can borrow a tent and some basic camping gear?

Might be worth heading out into the hills, doing a lot of walking and taking a pen and paper along for company.

Getting away for a while, and back into nature, always helps to clear my head and provide me with a new perspective.

I know this might be tough to hear but my suggestion is to embrace this tough time. Don't run from it but sit with it and learn as much as you can. I often grow the most when I am going through tough times. No one or nothing can really relieve the depression sometimes, I just have to hang on until it passes.
Okay there is one thing, you might want to try helping out others who are struggling. You could volunteer somewhere or just talk to someone who needs a friend. That and ice cream of course. :p

The bolded portion is an awesome way to meet chicks. :ninja::hiding:

+1

Great advice here.

Going through some tough times right now myself, and although I'm angry, and upset, and a whole whack of other emotions, the thing thats helping me most right now is really evaluating my situation and not making impulse moves that I may or may not regret. I've been considering volunteering some of my upcoming free time (just left my job as I need a break from the heavy physical workload), but could use some suggestions as to where to volunteer. I have the regular animal shelter, old folks home, but anything else anyone could suggest?

Think of this; THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN AFTER YOU MARRIED HER! :)

You dodged a big bullet, there, my friend. I know it hurts like hell (been through it myself), but you could have thought you were happily married and came home one day to her and her ex-bf in bed. Or you could have had one of those lovely child custody battles after a nasty divorce.

The woman who broke my heart ten years ago is still out there breaking hearts, apparently. I heard she left her husband (the guy after me..... and then everyone else in town), took their two kids, and ditched him, broke, in Arkansas last year. I'm sooooooo glad I'm not him.

it's been a rough few days for me. just broke up with the woman that was briefly my fiance and finished moving her out of my place. I'm resisting the urge to crawl into a bottle, but i could really use something to knock the edge off.
on top of all that I think I might be failing out of college. I'm 29 I should have my ^&*% together by now but it seems like it's all falling apart.

excuse my venting and tell me something to get my mind off it all. :bawl:

Take a few deep breaths and think about the whole situation, so you can learn from it. In the meantime, get your head back into your school work, so you don't waste the tuition money.

I second the advice to go to Student Services, although this is in hindsight, having been through something similar when I was in school.

Also, if she cheated on the ex, understand that someone who cheats once will often do it again.

Crank some music, go out to see a band and don't try to hook up yet. Nobody deserves to deal with someone who's not over their ex.

Go find your local humane society or some other animal shelter and ask about volunteering. Animal pounds always need volunteers and you'd be helping someone who is probably feeling pretty down about their own situation as well.

...and there are always young hotties involved with these things. At least that is my impression of that situation.

That's about all I have to say about that.

To the OP. How about playing some music. Playing with my friends almost always cheers me up. Hey this is a site for bassists after all. ;)

I sold my amp to fund moving her out. My keyboard too. I need a musical outlet looks like its gonna be learning the blues on my guitar... I also sold my main bass and kept the "cheap" one. I miss the bass and amp more than her right now...
