OK, so I suppose I should start from the beginning. After I got the news of Micheal Jackson's passing I went back and re-listened to all of my old MJ records (which I am now glad I've hung on too)
and when I was listening to Smooth Criminal I remembered that Alien Ant Farm had covered that song and how much I loved that cover so of course I pulled up the video on youtube. As I watched the video I payed a lot of attention to the bass Tye Zamora was playing. It was the bass he used almost exclusively before he got his Fender Custom shop 6er, the one built for him by Dave parr.
That bass reminds me a lot of a bass I saw once in an ad in bass player Magazine, this is where I need your help.
I remember this ad in BPM that featured a line of basses very similar to Tye's bass. The ad was of 3 basses of very similar style, 2 5's and a 6 string I think. White background, very plain ad. The unique factor about these instruments was that the upper horn came up off the body and reattached at the neck at about the 12th fret. Like it was a handle. I used to own the issue that ran this one time only ad, but have since misplaced it. The issue was released probably sometime between '05 and '07. Any one who still has their old BPM issues or recognizes the basses I'm talking about please help me. I would forever be in your debt.
