I need help, P bass or Jazz, SX or Squier?

well good morning for all you guys,im back in to bass playing and i dont know what route to take, i always love the jazz feel and sound but i know how good Precision basses are too, so many people here love P basses,so i need advice on wich one i should take, i play everything from grunge, ska, reggae, blues, metal, salsa, jazz all styles of music but for real i like most reggae, ska and 90,s grunge so help Jazz Bass or P Bass

My other dilemma is which brand to take, im thinking on an SX bass but i just saw how beautiful and how much you guys love those Squiers, they sound gorgeous in YouTube videos, i think both are good basses but right now i think im better wit Squier, so again advice needed here

Squier Jazz Bass, It's alot more of an all rounder than a p bass and can do practically any style with abit of EQ'ing, P bass is abit to growly and aggresive for some styles. I play a 5 string Squier Jazz at the moment and its brilliant, fits in any style i play quite easily. Hope you make the right choice for yourself.

I can't help ya with the P vs J question. I own and love both, I also own and love both SX's and Squire VM, and CV bass's so I'll weigh in there.

I'd go for the squire. Not to ding the SX line, but the VM squires are excellent value for money, more so than the SX's I own. YMMV

I have a 97 Affinity p-bass and a 03? Standard pj Squier. I play the p and the pj is a backup. I should play the pj more but really like the p.

I also have a p SX fretless. Nice neck - a bit between the P and the jazz (on the PJ).

I'm probably a little biased but I've always love J basses over P basses. The versatility of the J and the neck are what made me fall in love with it, so if I were you I'd go with the VM Squier Jazz Bass. Heck of a bass for the money. Trust me, you won't regret it.

I was gonna say if you can't decide P or J, how about PJ, but instead I'll just say +1.

The Squiers are nifty and cheap. The SX are nifty and cheap.

The SX's have the same bridge, but thinner metal.

I'd say go with the Squier. The Vintage Modified/Classic Vibe series' are awesome. Those PJ's are nice too.

Haven't you answered the question already? You love the sound and feel of a Jazz...what other considerations are there?

My first bass was a Squire Jazz. I've still got it. It's got some new pickups in it and I've had more than one "it's a Squire!!!...wow" comment.
