Double Bass I plead INSANITY, yer' Honor...

Here is my quick 2c: the difference between the Yamahiko and the Wilson is very similar to the difference between an omni mic and a super cardioid: the Wilson(s) take a narrow, gated slice of the vibrations coming in. As you twist that narrow slice around it picks up different vibrational patterns and or nodes...the sound changes dramatically when it focuses on phat bass frequencies and can be dialed away from that as necessary. The narrow focus accentuates clarity. With the K2 you have this 2X. With the K4 4X. More isn't necessarily better. But 2 is nice.
The Yamahiko which acts more like an omni picks everything up on all sides...you have to eq out what you can't use.
Both work great and in my experience the K series works better on dark broad sounding basses where you can tighten up the sound by tuning out some of the over complexity of the sound.

Thanks, flat...This is very helpful.
I appreciate your time and expertise.

Update: I'll need a few days to read up on the installation instructions and steady my Drilling Nerves. (...which got me thrown out of Dental School, FYI.)
Time for more COFFEE!!!!
Thx.

Just a test run on an old bridge, to check out my rickety old Drill Press, and my method of securing the bridge during drilling...any vibration is a No No.
All went well, as far as I can tell.
(Jeez, don't show this to @james condino, or I'll become the laughing-tailstock of the shop! That's a Machine Shop joke...)
More later, hopefully.
Thx.

Let us know the results. Also, the twist is 180 (90 in each direction from where you insert it) Just pointing out that the big sound difference might be more of a twist then you think....good luck.
Does that bridge fit on your bass? It would be great to try it that way...you could drill more holes...farther back on the leg also I like your string placement but maybe farther back there too if you can try it on the old bridge.....

No, it doesn't fit anymore.
I will try to get a usable sound with the 4 holes, and using the "rotating...." option that you and Wilson describe.
Thanks!

Drill Press? Real men don't use no Drill Press! How 'bout just hold the bridge in one hand, and duct tape a drill bit to an electric toothbrush?
