Oh ma Lord you aint lyin!! I never really saw or heard of the Travis Bean guitars before I got into Shellac. Thats all it took though was to hear Bobs tone once and 5 seconds later I was like man, I gotta try and get my P in that territory. I dont see me obtaining a TB bass any time in the near future. Does anyone know anything about that documentary about the Travis Bean story/guitars? I saw that some guy was putting one together but didnt actually see that it was released......

EGC was actually granted the license to reissue the Travis Beans. They had some nice protos at NAMM.

I know you already ordered the Rusty Box but I am wondering how this new Darkest Driving from Fuzzrocious would compare to something like this. Switchable clean boost before and after the OD sounds pretty snazzy!

I think the Rusty and the DD are pretty opposite in terms of sounds.

If you have the gain set fairly low, yes.

I don't know what an Animato sounds like, but I can get very convincing Chris Wolstenholme-style sounds out of it. (He's the only one I know of who uses an Animato...)

Sounds like I need to pull the Kramer Aluminum neck out and try it. I dropped in a EMG35 into it last year but haven't messed with it much since. Drummer is on a mini 4 day back to back tour through Nevada and Cali with his main band Attitude Adjustment. Looks like I'll have some time to noodle on the board again. If you have the chance go check out one of the shows.

Maybe? You would have to dial out most of the bass. It should get relatively close with slightly more space between the grit (if that is a good description) I will try to dial it in later today. I will post back if it gets anywhere near. I don't find that tone too useful but I think it has it in it.

Mine's already in the mail. I might have ordered it even if it only did Nothingface era Blacky just "because Voivod", but the good reviews in this thread made the decision a lot easier.

I've been lusting over this pedal for a month or so...on Saturday my lovely wife ordered one for me!!

It's my present for our 10th wedding anniversary this week...I should probably hang on to this woman.

Now I'm playing the waiting game...

So here is the Blower in best attempt at Animato style. I pretty much just styled it after the online riffs from the review videos so you can have a closer sound note spectrum when comparing to the actual Animato . Bluesy is not my style though as most of the reviewers do that type of thing. This is my Sabre >BB>JDI>Metric Halo ULN2>Logic X. That's it. Got pretty close. Still not as buzz saw as the Animato but truthfully I liked the Blowers tone better anyway. BB was set bass at 9 o'clock (almost off), Dist at about 2 o'clock and treble at 2-2:30.
I had to roll off bass on my Sabre as well but I keep it boosted most of time. Last bit is a Voivod riff and what I usually keep the Box at with bass intact. Don't judge the riffs they were not thought about like at all.
