I Present the IdiotBox Effects's Blower Box

Used the BB for the first time on Saturday at rehearsal. Good warmth and low end with a hint of shimmer, to my ear there is a touch of reverb... How it reacts to signal variables is interesting. Need to shuffle some others around in front and back. Solo behind bddi, winner so far.

Afford yes...room on the board, no. Maybe the VT Bass will get the boot who knows. The BB and VT don't play nicely with each other. Maybe I need moree time fiddling around with everything. Oh the fun!

Been trying to resist a b7k. Just picked up a HPF-pre v3 for some more control. Reading comparisons between the thumpinator and the HPF from those that have both the added knee sweep will be interesting how the bb will react. Need to try beginning and end of chain.

This thing *really* likes my active basses. Passive ones get a little more top end "fizz" through my rig (Aguilar TH500 and Audiokinesis TC112AF) but my active Schecter and Kubicki are bright, tight, punchy, and clear.

That's not to say it sounds bad with passive basses, but it definitely really likes my active ones.

Hmm, don't think I've tried it with a buffer in front yet. I know it makes a world of difference to the BDPG, so I'll have to give it a shot.

What do you mean by that exactly? I run mine with the BDPG at times too. It def makes a difference. Now rather that's good or better, not sure. It's def one or the other, just depends on what you're going for. I dig it with and without.

Killing gods

The BDPG sounds bad if you plug a passive bass straight in, but awesome if you have a buffer before it - e.g. a Boss or Tech21 pedal in bypass, or a clean boost set to unity gain.

I wondered if perhaps the BB might also sound better with a buffered signal, since IntrepicCellist reckoned it sounded better with an active bass. I'll check it out later.

I know you already ordered the Rusty Box but I am wondering how this new Darkest Driving from Fuzzrocious would compare to something like this. Switchable clean boost before and after the OD sounds pretty snazzy!

Yeah that does sound intriguing. But I mainly got the RB for my P. I have actually had a lot of success with the SA PEQ so far. That was the main reason I got the PEQ, to make my P really stand out in the mix, to be dominate like my ATK is. And it has done just that. But since Ive really gotten into Bob Westons bass tones, I REALLY want to try and get in that same ballpark. And the RB seems to be the way to go. Although I am pretty close to it already IMO. If the RB doesnt make a huge diffference in the tones I have going on now, it seems as though the RB still sells at a pretty decent resale price. I may get most my money back. But Im hoping I like enough to keep. I will know later today! :hyper:
