I Present the IdiotBox Effects's Blower Box

I liked the Pharoah the least of muff based fuzzes I had. Not bonding much with my Bluebeard these days just using it for guitar since it farts out on faster lines or when I dig in too much. Does the Stache fart out? I know it seems pretty common with some muff based fuzzes on bass, my Swollen Pickle did that too. My Fender Sub-Lime doesn't though nor did the Skullytone Russian Spy or the Pickle Pie I had.
Oh also to answer your question about the Grey Stache. It can do the "farty" sound you are referring to but that can also be dialed out with the tone and mids knobs.

I don't get it. People should buy whatever pedal they want to buy for whatever reason they want and then have the ability to compare it with whatever other pedal they want to. People should also be able to talk about their own personal conclusions especially if they are not endorsing artists. The BlowerBox is a RAT type distortion and nobody should be surprised if it gets compared with other RAT type distortions.
Funny how some TBers flipped BBs quite quickly (like within a day of getting their hands on one) and nobody here made a big deal out of it. Nobody cried foul. Nobody came down on them. Like a million other pedals out there, the BB is not for everyone.

After seeing this thread, I figured I would order a BB, it was so cheap compared to other small-scale builder pedals, it looked amazing, already etched. I needed to free up some space on my board. Matt was nice to deal with, the product was packaged nicely as opposed to just thrown in some random box with minimal protection. I was not planning on selling my RK, but after trying the BB, it became clear I much preferred the BB. After not ever picking up the RK for a long while, I just had to do what others have done and just flip it. Some people will hang on to their RT/RK pedals, and, great, nothing wrong with that or hanging on to any other pedal for that matter.

All I'm saying is this:

I once knew a Florida bassist who used a rather unorthodox rig. He ran a Marshall JCM rackmount pre into a Crown power amp. It was a REALLY cool tone that I hadn't heard since...until the Blower Box demos, that is.

The moral of the story: With that in mind, is it really fair to keep hammering away at "how badly it smokes the Rat King/Tail?" Devil's Advocate here...take it as you will.

Well I didn't get that reference. But like I said on that other Rat thread yesterday or so, I'm with you on this. People are claiming all over this thread that the Rat Tail is losing half their low end amd is absolutely unusable without a blend or whatever. Pretty funny.

ps: I will probably get a Blower Box to try it though.

I don't remember anyone saying they lost half their low end.

I don't know if that last one is directed at me. I have said that I used to only like the RK with a blend and now I use the BB without a blend. Sorry if this is offending people, but it's how I like the BB and it's how I liked the RK.

I don't get why people are taking all of this so personally. If you actually like Fuzzrocious pedals, what's the big deal here? Why all the insecurity/animosity/frustration? Use/buy the pedals you want to use/buy. If you believe that your RT/RK or whatever other pedal gives you all the low end you could ever want, then, great, keep it and be happy with it.

I really don't know where all this is coming from. It took me damn near 50 pages of praise before I finally even decided to buy one. Then it took a JohnK modded one to seal the deal and I still haven't gotten a chance to a/b these. I love my RK but I couldn't not give the Blower Box a chance to prove itself worthy to be on my board. I really hope it does cause it's smaller and will allow me to fit another pedal on there. What's wrong with that!?

They're both great pedals IMO. The RAT has been around forever, and rightfully so. We all have different rigs, pedals, and basses, so where one of us loses low end, the other may not. Where one hears a scooped sound, the other may not. Like my buddy nshuman said, go with what you like. I like the big enclosure BB, glowin' eyes and all. Some don't. And I understand their need. Just givin' my two cents.

Oh, and after I spoke to a couple folks more about how I wanted to get my rig n board out to the FOH, I'm pretty sure I'm settling on a mic. I'd like to get a DI box too down the road, but I think mic'n my can will be the best way to go for me and my setup. I found a mic that I think I want but I can't remember exactly which one it was. It cost about $200 and is used as a kick mic but also as a bass cab mic. Gotta save save. Or sell sell! !

Sennheiser makes a kick mic that has a 3-stage switch, I think, that you can adjust for taste. I think it's a little pricey though. Been a while since I looked into it. I just remember that a few big name producers used and recommended this mic. "Nolly" from Periphery uses an Audio Technica that he talks about in his rig video on youtube.

The one they told me about at GC sounded pretty sweet and not that expensive. But I'll have to shop around and do my research. I've got plenty of time to do it that's for sure. Thanks for the input bruudda

This is the one they said was pretty good:

Ryan at Fuzzrocious.
Ah ok, thanks.
But why ...'thrown under the bus'?
Isn't it just normal to talk about new products and compare them with those that came before and if the new ones are better or different, to say so as well as pointing out the differences wherein the potential 'better' lies?
What's that to do with throwing anyone under the bus?

I think, to an extent, it's because he posts here, and a lot of people have a very good relationship with him as a seller (he's a nice dude). Nobody would be talking about throwing ProCo under the bus, for example.

I love Fuzzrocious gear, on the whole, but I think in situations like this people need to separate the products from the maker, in a way.

Let's not forget the fact that the 'flavour of the month' on the forum can be a little fickle, too ;)

If anyone was torn between a Rat Tail and a BB, incidentally, I'd really recommend trying both. They both do different things in a similar way.
