I Present the IdiotBox Effects's Blower Box

After I got my Carcosa, I started playing with the settings on my Blower Box again, and have found that I really like the tone I get when I put the distortion around 12, Bass at 1, and Treble at 8ish. I hear a lot of my clean signal coming through, but much gnarlier. I used to run it with more distortion and bass with less treble for a really great heavy distortion, but I'm very happy with this setting right now.

Happy to see him getting started on the Landphil builds. I could have received mine before getting the signature and such on the enclosure... It's ok to wait for me since what I have going works fine. This weekend will be time for some experimentation of some other things I have picked up lately.

Hey those are my settings!!! Jk I use the drive between 10 or 11 o'clock but bass at 1 and treble at 8 is a great setting. I never get sick of this pedal.

I'm actually wearing an idiotbox hoodie right now :ninja:

Sorry if I missed it but WHAT ARE THE EXTRA CONTROLS??? I know they correspond to Low, Hi, and Dist, but how? 2 bands each of EQ, 2 types of OD? Would be nice if there was Low Mid and Hi Mid in addition to Low and Hi, but I couldn't tell from the Excane video.
I have the same questions. And honestly I thought it sounded super muddy in the beginning of the new demo.

Late to the party as usual. World's oldest newb, here. Just got my BB pedal from Matt. I likey:bassist:! Now, I obviously have the newest version. Inside on the board it is labeled BB v.2; it also says, "RUN LIKE A BLOWER!!! EATS LIKE A GRINDER!!!"
The only other pedal I own is Sans BDDI, and I love for the first time: real distortion.
I'm having loads of fun with it; wild how it becomes synth like on some settings.
I read this thread (only the first 7 pages and last 5) after ordering to torture myself. Naturally, I have to ask about this mod spoke of by gregmon79.. that "puts your BB on roids," what is this and do I need it for the newest version?
thanks all for settings and line placement data,
f n o r d !

p.s. I've got a blue tube and a dbx166: does anyone use a tube pre and/or a compressor with the BB: suggestions on set up? I'll be going through an ancient Peavey Mark IV.

Since you got a brand new one, it already has the boost that was modded on Greg's older, big-box model.

My settings right now are gain at noon, bass at 2, and treble at 7:30, going into a treble-heavy SansAmp DI into a GK with a lot of high and low mids. If I just go into the amp I turn up the treble up to 9 or so.

Yeah, @kzr750r1 is correct, if you have a newer one, it's got the boost built into it already. Mine is a FET boost wired to the circuit. JohnK helped me out and send me the board. All I had to do was solder some leads into it and I was done.
From what I recall the new BB included a boost such as was modded on Greg's.

I still love my blower box. It's just amazing. I don't care what anyone says, it's an instant classic for bass dirt. High, low or mid gain. Oh that sweet sweet sag!! Mmmmm

I just picked one up off a friend of mine for $50 with a power adapter! I love it. One thing I did notice was it didn't seem to like my one active bass, an Epiphone Thunderbird Pro. I thought I may have read somewhere on TB that it didn't work well with actives. Not really worried, as I have 3 passive basses. But I thought I'd ask anyhow if anyone else ran into this also?

Works great with my active Music Man basses.

My BB works great with all my basses, including my hottest active that some pedals can't handle. What's the problem between your BB and your Thunderbird?

Works like a dream with my ATK 300
