I just picked one up off a friend of mine for $50 with a power adapter! I love it. One thing I did notice was it didn't seem to like my one active bass, an Epiphone Thunderbird Pro. I thought I may have read somewhere on TB that it didn't work well with actives. Not really worried, as I have 3 passive basses. But I thought I'd ask anyhow if anyone else ran into this also?
Works fine with my audere loaded fender Jazz. If you're thinking it might be broken, Matt is quick to respond and stands behind his product. Replaced my bypass switch quickly when it went bad.

My BB works great with passive bass, but not so well with my one active. I may have to try again and see if I was overloading the pedal with too much signal or something.Doh, just remembered: I exaggerated when I said I "blew up" my Blower Box. I only blew the main power filter cap. The Blower Box still worked, so I had no idea it was damaged, but it definitely didn't sound as good as I remembered. A techie friend @JGR suggested I open the box, and sure 'nuff, it was obvious that damage had been done: one of the black caps was loose, and tan fuzz was splattered around. Matt said that this is exactly what happens when a center positive adapter is used.
Anyway, take a peek inside of yours.

View attachment 1078864 I can't believe I almost sold my blower box..Tbh I don't know what I was thinking I had it posted in classified here on tb and in my local classified but didn't sell and thought price was fair as it was 2 weeks old (110 w shipping)anyways lol I went for a cleanish setting on my B7k and tried a different signal chain unlike the first time I plugged it in and was discouraged with the tones I could achieve(hence up for sale lol)so this time I went pbass>pitchblack>BB>empress comp>B7k.i couldn't believe how much I really like my BB now. I guess the BB seems to work better before the compressor I don't know but I do know Im really digging my tone now. I had BB after compressor before B7k previously.I will gladly be keeping this pedal permanently and so glad no one bought it. For the win!!
The other day I got the e-mail below from Idiotbox. Should have thought to post it here earlier
Since our fence blew down while we were checking out the NAMM back in January we have had to keep our dogs on lead lines. This makes them very sad. We were hoping to have the fence rebuilt within a few weeks but just haven't been able to make it happen financially, so I'm trying to raise up some quick funds so we can finally get it finished and poor, sad Sharkey can run free again!
Help him out by using checkout code:
RUNSHARKEYRUN
for a very generous 30%!!! off anything in stock at Invalid Link Removed
through Monday April 3rd.
Please feel free to forward this to anyone you think might be down with the IdiotBox sound and want to take advantage of a great offer.
***Please allow a few weeks for me to build your order as most of my time next week will be spent building a fence
Thanks so much for your previous and future support!!!
Yeah I'm seriously thinking about a second BB just to help Matt out

Yes it was really nice at the time I had it. Yeah I know my post said permanently on the board but I just didn't have any need for the higher gain settings with what I play and wanted something different and I got a good return on the pedal. I also had a ss bs mini which wasn't what I was looking for either and ended up with a vmt which works really well with my setup. None the less the low gain settings though before my compressor then through B7k was really really nice but for me only used the one settings hence why It moved on. Im sure I'll end up getting another one day cause low gain meaty grunty bliss forever!!All are excellent FX! I usually keep my B7K set for subtle OD, and use it as the finishing touch for other dirt pedals, the Blower Box in particular.![]()
