These guys can still play. Period.

Hour and a half show, full tilt, no breaks. Mostly the usual suspects in the set list. But SO much energy....especially considering these guys were eligible for Social Security ten years ago and Live at Budokan came out before I was born.....

They hit Dream Police with the kind of intensity that would make St. Lemmy of Kilmister smile.

And yes, Tom Petersson sounded awesome.

The only problem is that I've been in reggae mode the last month or so and now my MUST PLAY CHEAP TRICK SONGS reflex has given me musical whiplash.

I remember seeing them back in the day. They put on a great show.

There were a few times when I thought some of Tom Petersson’s lowest notes were going to dislodge a few ceiling tiles. At one point the building actually shook and half audience looked up and saw the ceiling fans were swaying. Zander even glanced up for a second.

Something that really impressed me was the roadie whose job it was to play out and reel back in the cord to Nielson’s guitar as Ric was dashing all around the stage so he didn’t get tripped up or tangled in it. It was your only option back in those pre-wireless days. :)

Definitely an excellent drummer.

And yeah…the squabbles were pretty unfortunate. But, like the Cindy Lauper song said: “Money changes everything.”

Glad to see they seemed to make their peace with each other in the end.

I saw them backing up Aerosmith a while (15 years?) back, we got there early and were able to walk far enough in the bleachers to get behind the band. Rick had his usual phalanx of checkerboard painted speaker boxes and amps…. All fake, empty boxes. I only saw one small combo miked. Show Biz! Great band, I liked them better than Aerosmith, who sounded bored and muddy. That 8 string bass really fills out the sound, and Ric plays rhythm and lead simultaneously, great guitarist.

He was a guest DJ in Chicago, when I was about 15, so I called him up and was jamming my guitar,
and he put it on the radio!

Then another time, I was doing my usual Rick imitation, running back and forth in my bedroom,
(I even had a short staircase, similar to his, with floodlights under it, and a momentary footswitch to turn them on)
and I tripped hard, full face plant, and snapped the headstock right off my Explorer copy.
I was actually laughing my head off,
but that lead to my introduction into the world of guitar repairdom.

Man, I last saw them at Cabaret Metro (before being renamed to just "Metro") in Chicago when they did a 4 night gig performing a different album each night. I was there for the "Live at Budokan" night. After each show they'd come back out on stage and sit on stools and a mic was passed around in the audience so they could engage in Q&A. That was a rockin' show in that bandbox of a venue, glad to hear they are still knocking it out (absent BE.C, of course).

If I remember correctly Tom plays a 12 string bass!
