I've owned two dean acoustics and neither of them were good to me. Horrible fretbuzz and intonation issues no matter how I seemed to set it up. I've set them up for others who absolutely loved them after my setup, but personally those setups only made the instruments not have problems, but still not feel nice to me.

I wanna like em. I do.

The cheap ones, right?

I almost have to wonder if it's a scam. Unless the seller is 50 miles away, shipping that big wide sucker safely is going to cost him $100 or more anyway. Just the box size for an acoustic bass, plus padding around the super thin body, will cost a ton to ship even if it weights less than 10 pounds.
It actually only costs 45 bucks to ship a 12lb bass from Cali to jersey UPS. Last month.

Idk but they didn't look like that. Lol kinda goofy bridge imo

For the right price maybe I'll give them another shot; I've owned a guitar from them as well I hated, but I don't like guitar anyway...
The newer ones have traditional bridges.
What they don't have is the Aphex System electronics.
Do yourself a favor and buy an older Exotica.
There's a reason I have three.

I've bought quite a few solid-body basses, I own six right now, but I won't even consider any other EABC and certainly wouldn't recommend one.

I've owned acoustic basses but not anymore... I get way better results from a electric bass in a gig bag with a blackstar battery powered amp in the pocket. The battery powered amp will cost less.

I agree with this. Also, if the OP really needs an acoustic emulation, he can get a foot pedal to give him that simulated effect. Even better, buy an acoustic fretless bass. That will really sound acoustic but will present itself with a learning curve that turns off a lot of bass players.

I'd not buy an acoustic bass without I can hold it in my hands first. Way too many things that can go wonky and be virtually impossible to fix.

The fact that no one bothered to fix it up for themselves makes me wonder if there's a physical reason why.

I voted "No" like everybody else did, but for a reason not yet mentioned here. If you were going to put an instrument (or anything else, for that matter) up for sale, would you leave it filthy with dust and mismatched strings, or would you at least clean it up a bit first? I think that someone who doesn't bother to present an item well in an attempt to sell it may have other issues, possibly surrounding the instrument or their dependability. I don't mean ugly toe pics, I mean obvious dust and grime that takes two minutes with a cloth to remove. That is a red flag for me. This particular specimen looks neglected, abused and overpriced. You can certainly do better. Hope this helps.

I play fretless pretty much exclusively so if it's fretted I'll end up defretting anyway.

Im almost wondering if piezo is worth looking into and just using a nice semi hollow electric.
