The Stammie is pretty cool... I have a couple of friends who are interested in it after seeing it over the weekend. Guess I'm playing bass fairy again.

It came with what seem to be groundwound strings, the playability is excellent, lots of nuances available with a change of technique and RH position. This one has been pictured on Chris S's website for a while now, it's a bolt-on. When it became available I figured this was a good time to check out his work. He's the real deal and his prices new aren't bad at all.

If I were in the market, absolutely. Chris has (had) three new basses on eBay, I'm buying the singlecut fretless he had listed with a single Bart MM pickup and Bart preamp. I'm impressed with what I just got, Chris knows what he's doing and his new prices are very reasonable IMO. The woodworking is nice, the designs are nice, what's not to like?

Chances are both Stambaugh's may end up with friends of mine. This was a good opportunity for me to finally check Chris' basses out and also have some local players check them out too. I'll end up with the Zon Legacy Standard fretless 5, the Elrick Custom NJS fretless 5 and the Elrick SC fretless 5, which is a keeper.
