I refuse to believe that a $3000 bass is inferior to a $10,000 bass. In any capacity . Either built by reputable builders naturally.
Fodera could leave NYC and lower their prices because overhead would be substantially less.
But they choose to be near people (pros) that they respect and receive input from to develop their product.
Rob Elrick, by example, if he moved next door to Fodera, his prices would skyrocket because of the increase in overhead.
My MLP is every bit as bad ass as the Foderas (plural) I've had the pleasure of owning.
But its price is substantially lower. And I firmly believe most is attributed to overhead. And my MLP is the 40th Anniversary model. So they have been doing it a while as well
A 5A top from Fodera isn't any better than the 5A top from fbass, MLP,Sadowsky or whoever. But it can be much high $$$.
And also, its not raw cost. Really, how much is the bottom line cost on materials?
Its the skill of the person behind the tools.
I'd trust and would pay Roger Sadowsky to make a $200 Squire play great than the guy at GC pulling it out of the box.
Get my point?
